As for your suggestion, I guess the Saints practice squad could use a game manager.

Man McCarron really makes you lose sleep. As far as I am concerned McCarron is still throwing Smash to Kevin Norwood over the top of the Honey Badger and Chavis hasn't switched out of that D yet.

The last two LSU games have been when AJ has proven critics wrong twice. You guys saw it and still can't give the guy any credit.

Team stat. If you were starting a team an could have any sec qb from 92- present day AJ wouldn't be top 10.

Outside of 1 drive, he was garbage for the entire game last year. Didn't he have like 10 yards passing the entire 2nd half up until the last drive? Congratulations...Tajh Boyd, Aaron Murray and even Bo Wallace put together last possession scoring drives against Chavis' now famous prevent (us from winning) defense.

Only if you were an idiot. If you are starting a team and are running anything resembles the Power/Pass offense like ours who else would you want? Peyton Manning and Matt Stafford would be better choices but that is about it. But there is no one in the SEC right now I would want.

Jordan Jefferson was pretty successful. Thanks for reminding people that stats don't tell the story.

Want to know the main difference between Jordan Jefferson and the QBs on that list? All four of the men on that list won a national championship while starting for their respective teams.

The other four never kicked a marine either.

You can say that AJ Cain't win the Hm Trophy. You can say he will be a bust in the NFL. You can say both those things, but you Cain't say that he will not be a first ballot College HOF member.
No college qb has ever done what he is doing in his Carrier.

Yeah, McCarron has come a long way.

I vividly remember watching him throw a critical across the field INT to Mo Claiborne in Tuscaloosa a couple of years ago, that caused his coach to ask a receiver to throw the ball after that.

Oh, that was intercepted, too.

McCarron has proven himself to be all that Bama requires to win championships, and I think he stands a better chance to succeed on Sundays than all of Bamas QB's back to Namath and Stabler.

But, QB's winning percentages is really a useless stat. I mean, LSU's QB's had a higher winning percentage in 2011 than McCarron did.

We played one more game.

Herman with the nature of college football today I think him just getting to NYC will be a huge accomplishment and I think he will be there if we accomplish our goals.

A mediocre QB could have had the same winning percentage with the amount of talent the rest of the positions at Alabama has. Hell I have a noodle arm and I could probably be a successful QB at Bama.

What you say about winning% may be true, but if he wins 3 as a qb that will give him 4 for 5 years.
You show him standing behind 4 crystal balls and all his rings, we'll that would be a sight...

The only problem is AJ McCarron is not a "mediocre" QB. Greg McElroy was a mediocre QB. GMAC was limited by his arm strengh. AJ definitely has enough to make every throw in the playbook, as well as above average and often overlooked mobility for a pocket passer.

And I bet Greg Mac's winning percentage is in the top 10

Their mediocre mess of a back-up begs to differ. I've seen him in garbage time in a few games this season. That's a 3 loss team there with him starting.

Honestly, there's only been a few top SEC teams recently that won regardless of their quarterback (or even in spite of him.) LSU has won in spite of their quarterbacks a lot of the time. Ditto Florida post-Tebow. But most of the top teams have needed top quality in the qb position. Bama needs McCarron. They could replace him with Murray or, with considerably less surety, Mett or Shaw, and keep winning. But nobody else except Manziel, and Manziel doesn't fit into their system. They certainly couldn't replace him with Bo Wallace or Brandon Allen or whoever the hell is running things at Mississippi State and still be unbeaten or defending national champions. This isn't intended as an insult, but, frankly, people who don't think McCarron is a helluva quarterback either haven't actually watched him or don't understand football. I have my doubts about him succeeding in the NFL, but in college, he's one of the half-dozen or so I'd love to have leading my team.
