The SEC rules are not blurry. They are emphatic.
Your "done goofed" statement points out you know money was solicited on Cam's behalf and that makes Cam ineligible. Period.
Good job.

I guess we can add this to the thread.

By Steve Wieberg and Thomas O'Toole, USA TODAY
A central figure in the controversy surrounding Auburn quarterback Cam Newton spoke with NCAA investigators Tuesday, laying blame for any potential rules violations at the feet of Newton's father, Cecil.
Kenny Rogers, a former Mississippi State player, met for several hours with two NCAA investigators in the Chicago office of his attorney, Doug Zeit.
According to Zeit, Rogers repeated to the NCAA the allegations he made on a Dallas radio station last week that Cecil Newton Sr. wanted up to $180,000 for his son to commit to Mississippi State. "Nobody's pointing a finger at Mississippi State for doing anything wrong," Zeit said. "And Kenny has said, 'I had no discussion with Auburn regarding Cam Newton or anybody affiliated with him.'
He said, 'I don't know if Auburn has or has not done anything wrong.' He's not pointing a finger at them." Asked if that meant Rogers is implicating Cecil Newton, Zeit replied, "He's pointing a finger direct squarely at the father."
Cecil Newton could not be reached for comment. A recording said his home number has been changed. Cam Newton is not being allowed to speak to the news media by Auburn athletic officials.
Even if Cam Newton knew nothing about conversations his father might have had, the Heisman Trophy favorite's eligibility could still be in jeopardy. The NCAA considers solicitation of impermissible benefits a violation, even by family members. There's no known evidence that Cecil Newton received money.
Zeit said neither he nor his client has been contacted by the FBI for a possible interview.
Former Mississippi State quarterback John Bond, who told the school of an alleged pay-for-play scheme, was interviewed by the FBI on Tuesday, though the nature of the interview was not known.
Zeit said he could not tell where the NCAA investigation is headed. "From the nature of their questions, it's hard to tell," he said. "Where this takes us after this, or them, I really couldn't tell you."

I never claimed otherwise. I'm merely pointing out that I don't buy into the sycophant desires of the death penalty for Auburn...I beleive they recruited him and played him going on the info they themselves had up to that point...The NCAA still hasn't ruled him ineligible. At this point they'd have to retroactively make that ruling. Period. Good Job.

Last I heard, it is up to the school to rule him ineligible right now. Not the NCAA.
