The Mighty Mississippi touches 6 out of the 11 SEC states. It's literally the heartland of the Southeastern Conference. St. Louis is one of the best cities on the Mississippi River. It is the ONLY city on the River with an arch. Johnny Cash sang songs about the Big River. Why all the hate? Learn your Geography, haters.

Geographical and population center (what you said initially) =/= geographical population center (which makes slightly more sense)
And the Memphis metro is larger than the Birmingham metro by almost the entire population of Birmingham proper. When you’re talking about fewer than 1.5m people, 100k+ more isn’t exactly a negligible amount

That sort of stuff comes down to semantics though.
Memphis city proper is bigger than Atlanta, too. That's just because Atlanta proper is a tiny mass of land compared to a lot of cities.

Birmingham’s urban metro is tiny compared to the major Southern cities though. It’s over a quarter of a million people smaller than Memphis’ urban metro, which itself is pretty small considering there’s nothing but farmland in all directions outside Memphis’ immediate suburbs

Yea it's certainly not a huge city but it's much more similar to Memphis than Memphis is to Atlanta.

All the broadcast crews need to do is show pictures of the river in downtown St. Louis, with Jazz, Blues and CCR playing in the background. St. Louis can be made to feel "southern" Great post OP.

Hit up the Beale on Broadway on Thursday night after the games. Kim Massie and the Soul Senders will play any song you desire and do so spectacularly. She goes on at 10. And by “goes on” I mean they lift her up on stage and she sits down.

Texas doesn't have BBQ. It has delicious beef brisket.
We're talking about BBQ. BBQ comes from a pig.

Beale is a name with likely roots in Northumberland and West Yorkshire. Old English beo + hyll meaning “bee hill.” There’s also a Norman name “Beale” from the old French “bel.”
