Hugh Freeze took a 6-win team and made them an 8-win team. I'm sure Auburn is hoping he can do the same for them.

I feel like Shula was done after losing to the guy the AD declined to pick for the job over him (Croom, MSU) but Auburn was probably his shot to save himself. Dubose got fired due to workplace sexual misconduct and lack of institutional control. But yeah, I think Curry definitely got pushed out due to not matching up with Pat Dye.

without a doubt. he went 7-5, 9-3, and 10-2 but couldn't beat Auburn. He was fired. Perkins went 2-2 against Auburn and was catching hell. I think that is why he took the TB job.

Curry was a pompass aRse!
The trustees messed up so bad wanting Coach Bowden to interview rather than offer him the job! That’s why Joab Thomas went from prez of UA to teacher. Bowden would have done great at Bama!

From what I have heard Curry was the kind of HC an academic would like. Maybe if Dye wasn’t in Southeast Alabama, he could have gotten away with not being a tough guy. Unfortunately, Auburn had a guy who understood what it took to win Iron Bowls and Curry just didn’t have the balls to coach em up like that.

Bert won 11 SEC games in five years and lost an impressive 18 games in the fourth quarter.
He was one of the worst Arkansas football coaches in the modern era until the Chad told him to hold his beer.
He was worse than bad but terrible.
Freeze couldn't get his teams up for Arkansas unlike for Bama. Part of coaching is getting your team prepared for each game and Freeze wouldn't lose to the likes of Memphis and Bert.
