1976.

Georgia has played 42 bowl games since. That loss was to the National Champion Pitt Panthers led by Tony Dorsett. Tony Dorsett was playing college ball the last time Georgia lost a playoff/bowl game by more than a touchdown. That's crazy.

That really is quite impressive. In other words, win or lose, UGA is in contention until the very end. Although that 2010 Liberty Bowl loss to UCF was hard to consume despite a four point difference. UGA’s best days are 2017-present.

Bama is not handling being at the top very well.

That is pretty cool. What's odd about that game is Georgia and Pitt had a two year series in '73 and '75.

As for Dorsett, Georgia's Frank Sinkwich was a freshman for the Bulldogs the last time Texas A&M won the national title. Amazing.

fun trivia question (which I'm sure you know being the SEC historian), Doresett's first and last ever college games were both against UGA.

What Johnny Majors did at Pittsburgh was amazing. They were 1-10-0 in 1972 when he took over.

He was that close to taking the Georgia Tech job after Tech's sloppy firing of Bud Carson following the 1971 season.

And of course Majors' Iowa State team would go on to play Georgia Tech in a bowl that season.

If some of Ray Goff's and Jim Donnan's teams would have made it to a bowl game they would have lost by at least 21 points.

They both coached in the 1990's. You honestly think Georgia didn't play in a bowl from 1989-2000?

BTW, Georgia's win in the 1984 Cotton Bowl prevented Texas from winning the NC.

Dumb post. Go back to Big 12 Rant.

I just looked up the same stat for Bama, and we've lost by more than 7 points 6 times in that same time frame. 4 of them were under Saban. Crazy.

Out of the 7 games Saban has lost by more than 7 points, 4 of them were bowl games(2 NC games.) 1 of them was an SECCG. Guess that makes sense.

Somehow, UGA has managed to play the second most bowl games in all of college football.
