Yep. Shula’s first year.

Wow, even when we were on probation and our second string was a bunch of walk-ons, nobody could blow the machine out.

Yes, plus reduced schollies.

Who was the last coach to beat Nick Saban by more than 17?

UGA easily could have that year but we put it on cruise, iirc it is still the most points Alabama has ever given up in one half of football.
Not trying to toot horns here just responding to that post

Man-Teets Franchonie/BAMA beat CNS/L7U 31-0 in Tigah Stadium in 2002.

He also lost to Coach Fran the year before by a 31-0 count.
No LSU coach since has lost to Bama by that many points.
Of course, Matt Mauck broke his leg in the Florida game so it wasn't Nick's fault. Clearly, it was Jimbo Fisher's fault. And Muschamp's fault for giving up 31 points.

Watching that game I remember Saban taking it easy as hell on us. He had the best team I've ever seen LSU field and we started one player we beat out west Alabama for and another we beat jax state out for
I believe our rb was a Texas tech cast off.
Probation is bitch. Even before the penalties it kills recruiting and morale. U just don't have anything to play for and as a fan u know you're gonna lose. I think 03 was the year we got beat by northern Illinois and were down 17-3 to a south Florida team in it's first or second year of D1 ball. Georgia game sticks out. I want to say it was like 37-10 at the half or some shite. I remember not even watching that game and doing yard work instead.

Why are people down voting this? It's correct, more so than the post below it.

Mark Richt in 2004 beat Saban 45-16
not sure why this was downvoted because it's a factual statement, at the college level at least
