For some reason, Arky posters think they're on the same level as UK historically and it's like steam shoots out of their ears if you dare to put them on the same level as UF.

Yeah they have way more in common with Florida than Kentucky.

Francis Schmidt was coaching football, baseball and basketball all during the same time.

Arkansas had a period from 58 to 77 with zero NCAA tournament appearances.

1958 was the year that Frank Broyles was hired in football and basketball was stored in the attic. Until Broyles became AD and decided to resurrect the struggling program.

The 78 final final four team had to face the old guard of Kentucky. The next year year in the elite eight against Larry Bird who walked in the final few minutes of a two point game that wasn't called.

The 90 final four team had to face Christian Laettner and Duke. The next year in the elite eight had to face another old guard in Kansas. During that time had to play Larry Johnson and UNLV twice.

So it would be really hard to win multiple titles from a Johnny come lately like Arkansas wouldn't it?

UK won 2 of 3 with an OT loss in between, and a coaching change.

Those 3 straight finals and 2 x NCs were bookended by Elite 8 appearances. That's one hell of a 5 season stretch.

This is a great breakdown, and totally agree UF caught some breaks with upsets. It’s ironic because in multiple tournaments, I felt UF was under-seeded due to a weak SEC but then we would catch a good break haha. But hey, gotta win the games you’re supposed to win, and we’ve been very good at that!

Until your Gators screwed me in 2011 by losing to Butler. Would have had a nice payout if Florida went to the FF. Cost me my bracket pool!

Absolutely dumb take. No Arkansas fan has ever said we’re comparable to blue blood Kentucky basketball.

You’re not wrong with UF playing less games, but Arkansas has 12 more tournament appearances with only two more total wins than UF. We’re not only living off a couple Final Four runs, it’s more so the number of deep runs to the Elite 8 boosting us. Five Elite 8s from 2011-2017 really helps our numbers.

Doesn't that make my point for me? I'm not disagreeing with you, but those 12 more tournament appearances were years when Arkansas went, while Florida stayed home.

Florida had an incredible run and I'm not denying that. Just saying that it's tournament winning percentage is reflective of that great run and not doing much else in most years. Otherwise, Florida wouldn't be ahead of Kentucky.
