I think the gap closes this year. West Virginia solidified that and Washington playing AU real tight.

Auburn played like shite, as they always do to start the season, and still came away with the win after most of America (talking heads) predicted a Washington win.

I’ll take it.

Tennessee sucks. Of course West Virginia dominated.

The gap was closed. I think we’re opening it back up.

The 2nd best team in the big 12 beating the 2nd worst team in the SEC solidifies it?

The best team in the PAC 12 lost to the 3rd best team in the SEC.

Everybody on here riding on Sabans coattails. Who cares what your conference does? I pull for the Clemson Tigers not the ACC.

Exactly. I've been saying it all off-season. This is going to be one of the toughest seasons, top-to-bottom, that the SEC has seen in a number of years.

Think it closed last year. Go back and check the bowl results.

This ^^

Nothing I saw yesterday says anyone was closing the gap - I actually think it widened.

I mean, hell, Penn State should’ve lost to App St, Pac12 as a whole still looks laughable, the Big12 has 1 good team in the whole conference, and the “media crowned” best conference in the country (aka Big10) had 2 teams almost lose to FCS-level competition.

Even though it’s the first week, the only team I saw that looked like it could challenge the SEC in the playoffs was Oklahoma.

Obviously Clemson will represent the ACC, but that’s about it.

Meh. Outside of the notable outliers, college football always has been and always will follow the Pareto principle. 20% owns 80% of the wealth (wins, resources, best recruits, etc.).

Outside the playoffs, bowls don't mean what they used to for the players. The elite players that are on teams that didn't make the playoffs don't want to risk injuries and the rest just want to party.

There's a Dollar General Bowl this year. Do you think the players, or even the fans will really get into this game?

There are so many things wrong with that claim.

Last year was last year. This year is this year. We could go on and on from there shooting down transitive comparisons between the two and why they do not collectively apply to individual teams much less entire divisions or conferences.

128 FBS schools

26 teams = 20%

I am guessing 20% is way too high, more like 5% to 10% own 90% to 95%.

Top 25 is pretty damn close to 20%. And I mostly agree with your sentiment, but the point remains the same.

WVU dickstomped a bad Tennessee team
Auburn derped a little less then Washington
Bama prison raped Lousiville

I think the more telling thing is how last year we had an all SEC natty.

I wish more people thought this way. There are very few scenarios in which I pull for other SEC teams.
