No longer is one year indicative of the next year. The portal and easy money flowing has taken away from hard recruiting at the high school level or the benefits of developing players. I am up too late and almost out of beer. The ground is moving beneath us.

There needs to be some boundaries placed and the NCAA has no balls to put them in place. Next thing you know corporations across this country will own college football. And they will decide who wins and loses. Just a drunk thought. Go easy on an old drunk guy.

Paying "student athletes" was always happening. NIL is a leveling mechanism. The most vocal opponents to NIL have been the programs that have the most to lose in the leveling of the playing field.

I think the transfer portal is the real back breaker for college footballl and needs to be reevaluated.

Everybody should get one free transfer. After that, you should have to sit out a year.

NCAA has no authority to trump elected lawmakers and that's the problem they are up against. If they tried to pass rules that clash with state laws, they'd end up in expensive legal battles.

We need Tubs to pass national legislation in Congress.

It has to be Tuberville. He might not know shite about the basics of Government but he knows football.

The product seems way more entertaining right now than it ever has. Love the parity.

Not really. Tuberville only experienced success due to Bama being on probation. He is an absolute moron.

Agreed. Playing field has started to level out and we are seeing it play out. Much more interesting games!

I watched Colorado and Colorado St until after midnight last night and I'm pretty sure both of them would have at least hung with everyone in the SEC.

If you’re an actual ole miss fan, this is the only way your school will be relevant. I’m missing the reason why you’re against it. Sorry arse ole miss won’t do shite without transfers and nil

We don’t need those kinds of rules. Let them get paid and sign enforceable contracts like the real world.

Just because Alabama and Clemson are struggling doesn't mean the game has changed. The playoff 4 will look familiar as always

This Bama fan gave significant $ to Tubby's election campaign. Does any legislator know shite about the basics of government? I just want someone to vote conservative. But, you're right that he needs to lead the change in CFB legislation. I know he's working on something with Manchin. Hopefully, they can pass something that makes sense.

well since you put it that way, Bama only had success because they got away with paying the best players!

Aren't we still paying the best players? Or did we not just have the #1 pick in the draft this year?

LSU fans...

I don't see it as parity, it's just bad football.

You've got a lot of teams that half or three quarters haven't played a game together until fall practice. You've got who knows how many sub-par malcontents getting starting minutes so teams don't lose all their depth in the portal. Coaches who have a disciplinary approach are having to forget what made them successful to keep talent from leaving. And the NIL stuff is just getting started. Wait until the money squabbles and family/friend agents push even more out the door.

We've seen the peak of college football. NIL and the portal won't destroy it completely, but we're likely in for an increasingly mediocre product across the board. I guess it's parity, but, eh.

Both of these sound like positive developments.

Exactly. Which is why Saban has been bitching and moaning about “fairness” and crap.

It’s about staying on top. Bama is going to lose at least three games this season.

There’s NO WAY Bamas coming into College Station and leaving with a W if their QB is healthy. And LSU is going to beat Bama too. And maybe Arkansas.

But let’s see. We may have to play a backup QB. Who knows.

I disagree and still believe the teams that evaluate/develop the top HS guys will have sustainable success. The portal is hit/miss, it will create an element of uncertainty each year in CFB but I doubt teams will stack 10+ wins seasons YOY with 20% or higher of starters coming from the portal. Those that recruit HS at the highest level and fill a few gaps each year with portal guys will have the most success over time.
