What women's sport's athletes will sue first for unequal pay for their likenesses? That issue is the next one to blow up in college football's face.

I would rather there be a black market for boosters paying players and the NCAA turning a blind eye to EVERY school

Well this here is just just dumb as hell.

If like another thread suggested, a star player could make millions, why would they bother to go to class?

Soccer, the real football, is looming on the horizon ready to take its rightful spot as the best sport. College football is imploding. The NFL is boring.

Soccer will become the king of sports by mid-century.

The reason college football is different from the nfl isn't bc the players aren't getting paid. It's bc college players actually choose where they want to go play football and usually they represent their home state school. The players for LSU play for Louisiana we a whole and represent this state with pride. It's not like that in the nfl where u will see players jump ship to get more money and not really give a shite about the communities they play football in. Most nfl players are just playing ball somewhere but their home is elsewhere. There's just not the same feeling with pro ball.

I have never understood why they can't pay players minimum wage and treat their participation in the football program as a work study assignment.

Most school's athletic budgets are barely afloat now. Dump the cost of paying every athlete on scholarship a minimum wage on top of all that red ink & a lot of athletic dept's will go under. LSU is the only school in La. that makes a profit. Do you really believe the UNO's of the State can afford the cost of minimum wage payments to every athlete? Issues like having to pay income tax,State & Federal, who pays the players' CPA's? Injured in a game? Workers Compensation, with all its limitations in comparison, now in play? Free food & housing? Cost best be itemized on the tax return. etc etc etc
