It has been 26 seasons since Saban arrived at LSU. Saban turned LSU into a top tier program. Every year since he left they have slowly regressed towards their historical average of being an 8-4 team.

They love to talk about 3 championships in the last 25 years. What they had was a 5 year period of dominance with 2 national championships. And 21 years of meh with one lightning in a bottle season. Like Auburn had with Cam.

They focus on that 5 year golden age, all due to Nick Saban, and completely ignore the other 124 years of LSU football.

During that 5 year period, 2003-2007, LSU won 2 national championships and had a record of 56-10. 84.8%. 11-2 on average.

The other 21 years LSU won 1 national championship and had a record of 195-77. 71.7%. 9-3.

The last six years LSU has won zero national championships and had a record of 47-28. 62.3%. 8-5.

11-2 to 9-3 to 8-5. The decline is obvious to see.

Pointing this out will make them mad as hell.

Saban’s last season at LSU was 2004.

Nick Saban had exactly one season out of five at LSU where he had fewer than 3 losses.

What does that do to your narrative?

Did LSU really decline from what Saban was at LSU?

Everyone loves to extrapolate that one natty year and make it like he would have won several more titles at LSU but truthfully we'll never know.

Brian Kelly wasn't really much different than what Saban produced most of his time at LSU, record wise. Lower ceiling, similar floor.

Kiffin at LSU will have the same floor but much more likely to have a Saban level ceiling than Miles, Coach O or Brian Kelly did.

Put that in your analtyics crack pipe and smoke it.

LSUs overall record against Alabama is pathetic. They are historically nowhere close to Alabama. Their record against Ole Miss is more like that of Ole Miss' against State - a lot closer. And majority of games in the Ole Miss - LSU have been played in Baton Rouge.

National titles since 2003
LSU -3
Ole Miss -0. and will still be zero after this season.

If we can’t establish a realistic benchmark of success for LSU how will we know if you achieve it.
