You could hear the impact in the stadium. I didn't know the hit was as good as it was till I saw the replay on my phone after the game. Wild stuff.

Saw an LSWho? fan punch what appeared to be a special needs teen in the face. Was in the tiger section at the 1992 BAMA game in Baton Rouge.

Happened about 4 rows in front of me. Cops came and hauled him away.

Troy got their revenge in 2017…a game in which Ed O should have been fired immediately afterwards….if not at halftime.

That was my first Ole Miss/State game.
Liquor bottles everywhere and grown men
fighting outside the stadium. Unreal finish.

also the 2000 Independence Bowl between Aggy and MSU, that kind of snow in the Ark-La-Tex is rare.

I was the Ole Miss State game with the strange gust of wind that blow a game winning FG that was right down the middle bad. I was with a bunch of State fans and didn’t see it miss because I I put my head down etc right after I saw him kick it perfectly down the middle. I didn’t see it miss until I saw it on TV.

The ride back to the coast was extremely quiet, with the guys dad that drove saying, “well I always thought God might be an ole miss lawyer, know I know it’s true.

The piss and the miss egg bowl. That whole game was crazy but the ending was something nobody could have scripted.

This is up there for me.

The other would be State @ Auburn 2011 iirc and during the eagle flyover pregame he went rogue and flew into a suite window and everyone in the stadium collectively went “ooohhhh”. Eagle was fine and finished his roundabout but thought that was hilarious. Game was another heartbreaker for us getting stopped on 4th down on the goal line

I remember leaving the Ole Miss -State game in Jackson and running into a bunch of state fans in the parking lot. This was 80s so of course everyone was different stages of drunk.

One of their guys starting chirping at one of our guys and despite most of the guys on both sides trying to avoid trouble it quickly escalated and the next thing I know there are 30 to 40 or more of us about to be in a huge fight.

Several of the state guys were holding lethal weapons as if they were about to clock someone with them. (Aka massive cow bells on a stick)

So I quickly said we will fight you but you guys have to put down those damn cowbells. ( I knew they weren’t going to do that but I was pointing out to my buddies to be careful as one of those on the side of the head and you were going to the ER, and what a bad idea this all was. Plus Jackson municipal jail isn’t really a friendly place for frat rats or college kids. Finally, this was a guaranteed trip to the deans office as both schools stressed anything at the stadium would be treated as an on campus event.

Then one of the state guys that probably realized this was stupid too responded ‘“Well we will put down our cowbells only if you put down those flag spears” . Back then you could bring in flags with flagpoles and they did have a pointed gold tip on them typically. So he did have a point and he knew the guys with the spear flags were not going to put them on the ground either. So basically after a Mexican stand off for a few minutes the stupidity of this whole thing sunk in and each went a different direction.

I remember the state guy who brought up the flags giving me a look at the end like “good move” we got out of that shite. Back then you had to respond when challenged like that or you were a bad word. The cow bell-flag issue allowed everyone to save face, even the super drunk guys that started it.

So Mistake guys we can work together for the common good.

Of course, a few years later Flag poles were banned when they alleged some idiot speared someone. (I think it was all
Part of plan to get rid of the Rebel flag)
But cow bells are still legal in starkvegas but i understand that’s only if they are never used as a weapon against opposing fans.

So you are welcome Mistake fans, me and the unknown state fan saved your stupid cowbells from getting banned.

One of my best friends, who is a Vandy grad, swears he was at an LSU game in 70s when he was 5 or 6 years old wearing an Vandy or Ole Miss shirt and a bunch of drunk LSU fans picked him up and planted him into some shrubbery.

The LSU student section and Ole Miss students sections were fairly close and throughout the game sent over some token fan to wave a rebel flag etc to frick with the other side. One side went then the other side went, etc

LSU sent over this obviously drunk guy I think shirtless with a plastic LSU helmet
Wonder what frat made their pledges do that kind of thing? That kid had a story to tell! Wonder if he had any sons, and if so, how old was a son when he got to hear about his dad's college years!t kid in the helmet had a great story

I ushered games at Memorial Stadium as a Boy Scout in the early 70's. We drove over from Kosciusko, parked at a Methodist church, and they bused us over to the stadium. The Ole Miss cheerleaders threw bundles of 28 of those rebel flags at those games.Every other year there was a LSU vs Ole Miss/Alabama vs Miss State doubleheader. For picking up trash in our section, the scouts got two hotdogs and a Coke between games. We always sat on the grass of one end zone after the 1st quarter ended.

My mom, no pics, went back and got her masters in education at Miss State while we were in Kosciusko. She, and my dad would sit in the student section. My brothers and I sat in the $1.00 end zone seats where the State players went in and out of their locker room. One game we saw was State losing to a Terry Bradshaw led LaTech team. It was unreal how quiet it got in that stadium.

The LSU guy looked older than your typical frat guy, but the guys we sent were definitely pledges.

The footage is out there, but the egg bowl in which that field goal went through the uprights dead center and then gust of wind blows it back onto the playing surface was about as unbelievable as it gets

n the 80s LSU and Ole Miss actually played the Ole Miss home game in Jackson, Mississippi. It was 83 or 84.
The stadium had really good dueling fan sections as the stadium was actually closer to LSU than Ole Miss.

The first ALABAMA vs Ole Miss game played in Jackson was in 1894. Bear Bryant and Johnny Vaught used to duke it out in Jackson back in the day. It wasn't until 1993 that ALABAMA played its first game ever in Oxford.

I saw the USAF parachute team try to deliver the game ball in 1983 Indy bowl in Shreveport during a freezing thunderstorm. Ole Miss and AF were playing, Brewers first year. When I got out of my car at the game I immediately stepped into 6 inches of water. We had umbrellas but tried to open one at the car it was destroyed by the wind, the other one in the game same results. It was cold windy and raining all game. We couldn’t believe they were even going to try to parachute the ball in.

There jumpers u could barely see them but could see the strobe light. First guy miraculously landed at damn 50 yard line. The other two didn’t even make it close to stadium and landed somewhere in Shreveport but were ok.

However those guys were I am glad they are on our side.
