What defense did yall play last year that was better then any of the top 4 lsu did?
None of our opponents got to pad their defensive stats against teams like Northwestern State, Georgia Southern, Florida International, Middle Tennessee, etc.
These were the Top 5 defenses in 2020:
1. Marshall
2. Army
3. Air Force
4. BYU
5. Northwestern
I wonder why? You think those were the best five defenses in college football?
ETA: Let's not overlook Florida Atlantic at #9 and the mighty Rice Owls checking in at #12.
You think Rice would have had the #12 ranked defense if their game against LSU hadn't been cancelled?

LSU folks love to throw out off the cuff numbers but it's more perception than reality. Numbers and facts don't matter unless they show LSU in a positive manner for argument sakes.

Wtf does that have to do with the fact that Alabama's opponents weren't good at defense.
I'm just trying to say the line about playing northwestern state and Georgia southern is easily cancelled out by the great defenses we had to play.
It's a pretty well known fact that lsu beat the preseason top 5 teams by an avg of like 3 tds or more and that the defenses were much worse last season in the sec.
Can you not admit that?

Mac's team scored more the 30 points every game, Burrow's team didn't.
The team that held Burrow to 23 points, Mac put 45 on them.

Why does that matter, why are we comparing that season? That's one game and we beat yall that year . That's not even the argument anyway.
Did we or did we not play better defenses in 2019 then yall did in 2020?

Christ, this is unreal.lol , I'm out dude you are arguing about a game yall lost in a season we beat yall .this is insane

Seriously?
Are you an idiot?
You say Alabama didn't play any of the top defenses in the country. I literally just posted who the Top 5 were and you can't discern why?
Let me help you. Each one of those teams had games against Power Five opponents cancelled so they were able to play, in some cases, only 6 games against conference teams.
Army didn't have to play Oklahoma.
BYU had games against Michigan State, Minnesota, Utah, Arizona State, Stanford and Missouri cancelled and replaced them with the likes of North Alabama, UTSA, Western Kentucky and Texas State.

Cool. I used them as an example as to why SEC defenses as a whole weren't ranked higher in 2020. They didn't get the benefit of playing similar teams.

Yet the one win y'all brag about the most was by five points.

LSU got lucky they didn't have to play Mac in 2019, got a banged up Tua instead.

Curious coaching decision if Tua was as injured as Bammers say.

Are we still on the make believe notion that Jones can’t elude a rush and throw on the run?
Are we still on the make believe notion that Mac Jones will be anywhere near as good as Burrow as a pro?

Mac Jones has finished as many NFL seasons as burro already.

Burrow won two games last year.

It’s always funny when you guys indirectly admit the absurdity of the 2020 football season while in the same breath, try to avoid all the context that makes a side-by-side comparison to teams that played actual normal seasons impossible. It’s one of the funniest self-owns in this argument.

Burrow was way better in the pocket as well and has more rushing TDs. And has 19 more touchdowns than Jones. Bama fans will say but but Georgia state.... 2 more games. Well give Jones two more games he would still have to throw 10 touchdowns in each game to pass Burrow. Not going to happen.

Did Jones torch a team for 7 TDs through three quarters in the CFP?

I love Mac (and have since the Auburn game in 2019 when he showed what he was made of) and think he has a chance to be a solid NFL QB in the right system and at worst a 10-12 year lower tier starter or highly sought after backup, but he's not as good as Burrow was/is.
