Have a feeling this is why Clemson is so high though.

Clemson's strength of schedule is significantly better than #s 5-10. The committee also considered their QB injury in their Syracuse loss.

You know Iowa State is ranked 15, right?

And they also just knocked out undefeated TCU.

If the Big 12 doesn't get into the playoff, it is ISU's fault, and that's okay with me.

they also seem to penalize bad losses more, so LSU & Auburn make sense ranked where they are

The most confusing thing about the committee rankings is Clemson at 4; they have arguably one of the worst losses of all the 1 loss teams....

Yeah, they have AU, MS & LSU in the right order.

Clemson's strength of schedule is significantly better than #s 5-10. The committee also considered their QB injury in their Syracuse loss. Syracuse isn't a terrible team.

Clemson is not a top 4 team. You saw what happened when they lost their starting QB. They lost to Syracuse. You can't rely on one guy to always get the job done.

I'm a fan of the spread (or at least running qb's).

But this is a drawback with these offenses from my viewpoint.

Everything is funneled through the qb. So if he has a bad day or gets hurt, it's really not like sending in a backup in Stanford's offense.

downtown Athens last night was nothing but people acting like we had won the damn thing

I'm down to be excited, but some of those drunk idiots need to pump the brakes.

The same can be said about any offense. Bryce Love was out for Stanford, and the barely beat OSU.

ETA:

And agree with OP. OSU won’t get a pass for beating up terrible schools while getting crushed by OU at home.

Winning head-to-head is more important than “who lost to to the better team” when the records are identical, both teams are 1-1 vs top 25 and you have several more weeks of this poll for tOSU to prove the committee wrong/jump OU.

Oklahoma won @ #6 and lost vs #15 (close)

Ohio State won vs #7 and lost vs #5 (not close)

Clemson won @ #13, vs #14 and lost @ Unranked (close)

Notre Dame won vs #17, vs #20, @ #24 and lost vs #1 (close)

On top of that, Oklahoma beat the daylights out of Ohio State @ Ohio State. I dunno how you could put Ohio State ahead of Oklahoma at this point, really.

However, you could probably group those 4 any way you wanted and I couldn't really find fault with it.

Totally disagree and not even including last night's top two which I have no issue with. Early on they are just going out of their way to be different. Best four is their charge and it will change 40 ways to Sunday before the end. Silly concept, stupid actually. Every week the reason team A was over team B contradicts week prior's reason. Ultimately they land exactly where BCS poll, and voter's polls, landed.
