The committee's rankings are so much better than the polls

1. They actually respect head to head victories whenever it's reasonable to do so.

2. Joke teams like Wisconsin and Miami, which everybody knows aren't that good, don't just magically get rated highly for being undefeated.

3. Their rankings do a good job of reflecting the season UP TO THAT POINT, without speculating on the future like pollsters seem to.

People will bitch about them because people bitch about everything, but on average the CFP rankings are much better than the other human polls.

Agree, best 4 teams are currently in and OSU is behind OU.

People also get freaked out about the order, but I can guarantee you #3-#7 are razor close and the committee does a good job of making their rankings more fluid than the traditional polls.

Pollsters got into this habit of moving teams up if they win and down if they lose, and are hesitant to leap frog even when it's clear they should.

That's why you end up with Wisconsin at #4/#5 and shite.

Absolutely. Someone finally got it right.

They both suck.

Also the cool thing about them is they'll be updated every week

Can't tell you the number of Alabama people I know who are melting over nothing, and on the other hand I can't tell you the number of UGA students who are treating this like a national title win

I don't know one Georgia fan who is truly celebrating being #1 in the first cfp poll of the season. If the Dawgs somehow end up in the top 4 of the final cfp poll then yeah

Have a feeling this is why Clemson is so high though.

they also seem to penalize bad losses more, so LSU & Auburn make sense ranked where they are

The most confusing thing about the committee rankings is Clemson at 4; they have arguably one of the worst losses of all the 1 loss teams....

Oklahoma lost to iowa State. I get they beat osu early in the season, but how do you just overlook that loss?

Most UGA fans that I talk to don't want to be #1. I think most Dawg fans want to be in the top 4 and chasing the lead. Don't want that #1 target.

Um, are you paying attention? IA State is pretty damn good this year; much more so than Syracuse

OK should be over Clemson & so should Penn State

I actually agree. I thought Notre Dame should have been ranked #3 due to their strong resume and very close loss to a really good Georgia team. The committee obviously saw that as well. The AP at least has them ranked in the top 5. I have no idea why the Coaches Poll has them ranked so low. And I couldn't agree with you more about Wisconsin and especially Miami. If you have a weak resume, you need to be dominant and pass the eyeball test. Neither team has done that so far. Miami has barely beaten some really mediocre teams.

Sometimes theyre good.. sometimes they leave out a conference champion for backwards logic that comes down to bias and tv ratings.

Head to head games that were decided by one play are generally more flukish and would have less weight than head to head games where you were dominated.

This is why Auburn deserves to be ranked ahead of you because the rest of their resume is much better than yours, and MSU deserves to be ranked ahead of you because they dominated you on the field.
