He does try to rile up his listeners. But it sure is fun to hear the Bama faithful whining like a spoiled 2 year old.

I was completely with ya every step of the way until this last sentence
quote:

He is a liberal snowflake, that has no problem pushing the fake news narrative!!
which is completely untrue. Paul is a Libertarian and has said MANY times that ALL politicians are nothing but LIARS.

I'm surprised you guys don't love him given his regular negative comments about Dabo.

He knows a lot "about football" but doesn't really know football. Can't listen to him talking to callers but used to love his weekly segment with Pat Dye who was retired and would really call things like he saw them.

Paul has, or had back in his heyday, an equal number of Auburn Tiger fans who made him popular -- Tammy and Charles from Reeltown and the goober from Montgomery whose name escapes me at the present!! Don't be hatin' on just the "Bammers"! All fan bases have their embarrassing fans.

No, there’s a difference between Collin cowherd and Paul finebaum

I started looking for it and Paul’s never once even said anything about a game that could be construed as an evaluation of the game itself . I’ve never even heard him say a teams offense or defense is good. The most he will say is . I think such and such will get it done

He’d be a nobody without them.

He was just a Birmingham radio guy who let Bama and Auburn fans call in and troll each other on air. We have been calling it "Jerry Springer radio" since the 90's. It was just for laughs at work and we could make fun of the characters calling in. I never thought it would expand outside of the state, but he went regional. Then other fans were calling in and when he went national on cable radio, even more fans started calling in, and then espn picked him up for SECN. My point is that it was about easing a boring work day, but he was not meant to be taken seriously.

I would not call Finebaum a football analyst but rather a football observer, primarily of the Southeastern Conference.

Most of the people writing or talking about college football I would call observers rather than analysts. Finebaum's opinion is as valid as theirs.

I like to hear most of his guests but these idiot callers cause me to turn the channel faster than anything else. Some of them seem to be working with a fifth grade education and their knowledge of the game reflects that.

They purposely put those kind of people on air. It's all a show. They'll give those people special phone numbers and shite to call, so that they can use them instead of normal people.

I simply don't watch it. I only have live cable in the fall for football. Soon as national championship game is over, I cancel until the fall. Even then I will only watch the actual games.

Talk shows are dumb. College Football Final with Lou/May was the last decent show.

Actually, the thing that blew Paul up on radio was the Albert Means affair in Memphis, that let Paul side with Alabama over Tennessee. For those of you who weren't around 20 years ago, you need to research Albert Means, Logan Young, Tommy Gallion, Tennstud, Lynn Lang. This is one of the things that made Fulmer so hated in Alabama, along with the fact that he beat them on the regular. Fulmer turned Bama in to the NCAA for their Memphis activities, along with 4 other SEC coaches, and one distant coach - a fellow named Saban at Michigan State.

You know, they do a streaming show together now, during the season.

He has to pay these morons to call the show, and give them a script to read. It's smoke and mirrors.

I long for the days when I was a young'un watching my 1960s Green Bay Packers every Sunday with the great Ray Scott only saying what was absolutely necessary. The great Larry Munson did say a mouthful every minute of the game. But a radio announcer is different. He has to paint a picture. Or "get the picture now" if you will.

Back in the day when he had Vickers as his sidekick, he had Shane, Phyllis from Mulga, Katherine, I-man, Jim from Tuscaloosa, B.O.B., etc. calling in. One day he was mocking / making fun of Cadillac Williams black dialect. If he did that today… he’d be off the air. I haven’t listened to him in about 10 years.
