Yep. I’ve had it for many years and have a high frequency hearing loss for which I wear hearing aids. I measured / matched my tinnitus with an audiometer and it’s between 1K and 2K hertz. So, it’s a constant high frequency pure tone ringing. It never stops. At night I tune a shortwave radio that has white noise and it helps.

It’s really causes problems with hearing female voices since they are a higher frequency that makes. Trouble hearing sibilant sounds like /s/, /sh/, etc. Hearing aids certainly help. I have Resound aids… princely but very good. Control using iPhone app.

The most common medical disability claim listed by the Veterans Administration is tinnitus. Over 3 million vets receive compensation due to tinnitus.

Today, if a person joins the national guard or the reserves…. they can plan on being deployed sometime during their enlistment.
I believe that all the troops that have died in the Iran war are all members of the NG. The six on the aircraft that crashed were Air National Guard, and the ones in Kuwait were Army National Guard The regular army heavily depend on the NG/ Reserves.

We were taught back in the 70s that boot camp was to train troops in basic combat training. It was explained that no matter what your MOS is…. the situation one day may require you to become 11B (Infantryman) and they teach you to kill. So cooks, truck drivers, drone operators, medics, etc… may have to take up arms against the enemy.
