Unbelievable that Boutte was able to hang on to that ball, he got hit hard, but that absolutely was not targeting. The game was poorly officiated all around, Arky definitely had some bad calls go against them, but LSU had some phantom holding calls that stopped drives as well. Terrible announcing and officiating all around.

I agree. Stupid call, nothing he could do besides let Boutte run past him

Regardless of how you feel about that incident, it was the right call, according to the current rules. It was very similar to Ricks in the first half, which was also correctly called for targeting.

If you are saying the rule needs to be tweaked, then I might agree. But yesterday the two targeting calls were correct.

The refs made a few bad calls. Nothing that cost either side the game, though.

Both targeting calls were BS. If db's adjust and start hitting at knees, it will ruin some careers. No fan wants to see that.

It's ridiculous when high school refs down my street officiate better than refs at both the college and NFL level.

LSU DBs and LBs like to attempt tackling from the sternum up... which is why they suck at tackling.

I agree. Everyone understands the "letter of the law" but they have to allow for some common sense and gray area. Or they have to have levels in regards to ejections and sitting out parts of multiple games. Sort of a flagrant 1/flagrant 2 type thing. If the Catalon play isn't gonna be accepted then they may as well just stop tackling and play flag football.

We reached the point where any hard hit over the middle gets called for targeting.

But at least with Ricks there was head to head contact.

Catalonia was literally trying to turn his back to keep from hitting the guy.

Both targeting calls were BS and the rule needs revamping. Maybe a targeting 1 and targeting 2 for incidental vs intentional.

There is no comparing the two targeting calls. Only insane Tiger fans could possibly think otherwise.

Taking away the Arkansas fumble recovery was an even worse call. LSU was gift wrapped that game.

Ejection and disqualification is such a severe sanction. It needs to be reserved for the most flagrant unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

I think we have moved into the realm of players not wanting to tackle other players for fear of being thrown out of the game. If you have to gingerly wrap your arms around the ball carrier and gently bring them to the ground I doubt you are going to be very effective as a tackler.

Leave the penalty in play but don’t be throwing people out of the game except for flagrant violations of the rule.

As an Aggie, I have no dog in this fight, and that was an atrocious call.

If a shoulder-to-shoulder hit is “targeting,” they might as well remove the pads and play soccer.

I have no idea how you are supposed to play defensive back anymore. The rules have to be changed, particularly as to ejections. That kid has to sit out the first half next week as well, which is ridiculous.

As for the announcing. That was an audio abortion. Matt Stinchcomb is the worst I have ever heard.

Leave it to Aggie to think bumbling incompetence is ok with any announcing team. Sad what decades of mediocrity does for you.
