Arkansas has no ties to the big12 at all. I don’t understand that part of the post.
Kick Arkansas back to the Big12!
Regarding Missou, kick those commie liberals back to the Big10!

Big 12 was founded in 1994, Arkansas was playing in the SEC in 1992. Arkansas was never in the Big 8.
That’s cool, but we can kick Missou back to the Big10!

And I miss the SWC. But, CFB's a business. So, here we are.
Those of us of a certain will largely agree with you.
I sometimes wonder if the old SWC could have survived if schools like Houston, Tech, and Baylor could have been more consistently good to keep a level of respectability. Let's face it, A&M and Texas can have more down years than these other programs just due to size and influence. We needed these schools to be credible threats to not be just another Big 8.
By the time the SWC belly-upped, A&M was cruising as the "best of a bad bunch". We went 4 straight seasons without losing a conference game, and even we were not impressed with it. These other teams were not keeping up, and Texas was in the wilderness years. Maybe it could have rebounded, but timing and money doomed it.
It was a solid conference in the days when schools like Rice and SMU could still field competitive teams, but TV money changed the economics profoundly.
It didn't help that it had also become a snake pit of turning each other in for recruiting violations.

Add Arkansas in there and thats a hell of a proper 10 team league.

The problem the SWC ended up having is that nobody was interested in watching it outside of the state of Texas. And towards the end... they had no elite teams.
The Big 8 had Oklahoma and Nebraska... then it had Nebraska and Colorado. It always had a couple of elite teams clear until the merger.

Snyder had K-State elite for a while there too.

What Snyder did for K-State is one of the most under-appreciated stories in CFB as far as I am concerned.
Both on the field and on the campus.
