The Grant of Rights deal started because of A&M and Mizzou leaving. The rest of the Big 12 was so butt hurt that they made everyone sign a deal so no one else could just leave. Ten tears later, it bit them in the arse. Donghorns thought the rest of the Big 12 would just let them go. Did not turn out that way. The Big 12 made sure it got paid first.

Now Florida fan critiquing Texas fan's reading comprehension.

"C) Texas would've pulled the plug, but needed OU to agree"

Did you need that written in crayon or possibly a pronunciation feature?

They couldn't afford the buyout. It would have cost them over $80 million each.

You apparently don't know a lot about Texas. The payout ESPN would have to give them to end the contract on the Longhorn Network would probably have covered that 80 million easily...Maybe even covered OUs 80 million also. I don't know what the holdup was for Texas joining the SEC, but I doubt it is financial..Probably more of a legal and political issue, Like Grant of Rights, and not wanting to deal with stupid lawsuits, and fallout from politicians in Texas.

Texas (the school) has a huge endowment from the state worth Billions. They have like 2/3rds of the Billions and A&M has 1/3rd of it. Texas treads lightly to not give the politicians in the state any reason to take away a percentage of that endowment to give to other state schools like Texas Tech..They don't want to tick off any politicians that went to Tech, Baylor, TCU, etc like leaving those schools high and dry in the Big 12 without helping them get a decent new TV deal. They can only use the endowment for facilities and buying other campuses, etc but it's a huge deal for both them and A&M..

Our roster was hammered dog shite when we decided to make the move, why pay more money to have a terrible start in the SEC?

This is the answer.

Of course Texas could have left for the 2023 season. OU couldn't afford it. Still, Texas didn't press the issue. We wanted to have another year of NIL related recruiting under our belt to make sure our o-line & d-line were ready for a full SEC schedule.

It is kind of funny for a UF fan to beat the drum of Texas being poor & afraid. The Gators come to Austin next season. We will see what you are made of then. Good luck.

The statement released by your own AD to Kirk Bohls says you would have been forced out of 165 million

Don’t pretend your AD hasn’t been struggling financially with all of your projects. The sec hype might have drummed up 40-50 million in immediate booster money but 165 mil is an ugly number.

It would have been an insane bite, no doubt, but there was additional leverage with LHN/ESPN, and other sources.

To me, it is a non-issue. The money doesn't mean anything to me. I don't see any of it. This was all about getting football ready for the SEC. Our SEC schedule next year is insane, and we go to Michigan in week 2, so I am glad we had an additional year to recruit.

Some people are so fricking stupid …. It’s amazing how their moms and dads even were allowed to roam this earth …. OU and Texas had a contract …… The other schools are getting more money to join ….. it’s not that hard to figure out . Not to mention some people act like this is the first time this has been brought up ….. OU and Texas got out about 60 million cheaper than they would have had to pay ….. so yes it was done well by the lawyers .

Don’t gloat over your season idiot. For one, it’s not over. Two, you guys don’t have to play ANYBODY (and the worst Bama team in recent memory).

You’re exactly the type of buffoon that thinks tx is truly suddenly good… you ain’t.

pooooooor aggy.

I'm not gloating about the season. I'm just noting that the delay in transition hasn't hurt Texas in any remotely material way.
