The SEC is stuck with a TV deal with a TV partner who has seen better times and is in decline.
ESPN is still miles ahead of FOX. Rupert Murdoch is 92 years old. When he passes, there is no telling what the kids will do with FOX. The Big 10 could be TV deal hunting in 5 years.

Adding Texas added no revenue for the SEC because the SEC was already in Texas.
I don’t think you understand how TV revenue works. It’s based off Viewership. Adding Texas bring in millions of more fans. Probably more than Oregon and UW combined. So yes there’s a lot of value in bringing in Texas.

He thinks schools can just shed women's sports that can't afford cross country trips every other week and thinks 9pm time slots nobody wants are a win.
He doesn't seem to understand sports or finances or title ix.

OK, where is the revenue bump in the TV deal? Texas is the bigger brand but Oregon and Washington put money in the B1G pockets, Texas did not.

The Big Ten has lofty goals and will not implode, none of those schools will allow them to catch the SEC. I would like to keep them out of Florida.

That’s because Oregon and washing are taking a 50% pay cut for a decade. SEC doesn’t pull that crap because they want teams to be as competitive as possible.

That’s a good recipe for a bunch of 6 and 6 teams and probably makes it more likely for the smaller conference teams to get into the playoffs.

Them being employees creates a whole different set of problems for the B1G. That will mean you will have to pay the women's teams just as much as you apu the men's teams due to title IX. Add in expenses and raising costs of travel, lodging, etc., schools will burn through cash faster than they can generate it.

Also, don't the schools dictate how the money is spent in the B1G? Meaning that when they recieve the money generated from the athletic department they spread it out throughout the school vs reinvesting it back into athletics like the SEC does and then kicking the rest to the school

None of them are B1G expansion candidates. They will probably go to the Big 12.
I would be shocked if the BIG doesn’t want Miami (and GT), great academics, big tv market, historical fb success, S. florida is a major recruiting hotbed, and Miami is a great and easy road-trip destination, especially for Cold weather midwest folks.

The league will likely schedule in Pods, to keep expenses down.

Georgia Tech has a lot of potential and could be the flagship with the right coach and leaders.
Miami would open firm recruiting grounds, it has such poor fan support.
This whole thing will have to be carefully studied for the best results.

You do realize how much money Phil Knight pumps into Oregon, right?

While Disney is exploring the idea of selling ESPN, Fox won’t be able to buy it. Fox is half the brand ESPN is.

Timing of the deals. The SEC deal has been worked out for year’s. 2020 to be exact, the Big 10 deal was worked out last year. You don’t just get to rework a deal after agreement.

Miami has poor stadium attendance but very good tv numbers, they definitely have a national following.

lol if you think the SEC won’t pony up the money to stay on top. Every SEC school besides Vandy is rabid about football. B1G not so much outside of OSU, PSU, Michigan and Nebraska even though Nebraska sucks now.
Even those west coast teams y’all added don’t really care that much about football.

Yea how he thinks adding the flagship university of a state with over 35 million people won’t increase value is simply retarded.

That won’t happen because there will lawsuits out the arse due to Title IX and the basketball/baseball players will throw a fit
