You remove the NCAA, and you would remove all the lower-level NCAA programs from having any say in the matter.

What "say" do they have in the matter or CFB now?I guess you could say P5's threw em bone to include a G5 in NY6 bowls.Other sports are a different deal all together but I'm not sure you wanna go down the rabbit hole of regulating minor sports.

you think Oregon is worth it, let them apply. And if UCF complains, tell them they're in the NCAA, not the SEC

I think you're giving way too much credit to the UCF's of the world.

I tend to agree with you. I was just passing along information that I saw.

No, very doubtful. We're paring it down to the major programs. Nobody wants to add a smaller school, they want to add the big dogs.
I get it, but would they be worse than some of the bigger programs that have never been good and probably never will be good?

Crap, they could just about beat everybody in the PAC 12 right now. Illinois? I mean there are quite a few teams that they are better than.

Scoob is effectively correct. This move by the SEC is the opening gambit to create the E(SEC)PN college sports association controlled by SEC member and backed by Disney. An association that allows it's members to spend whatever they want on their sports offerings with title IX compliance as the only real regulation. I could see this group even offering a college lady's lingerie football scholarships to balance men's scholarships. Picture a college league run like the soccer leagues in Europe, or MLB before salary caps were introduced. But this would be across all college sports offerings.

In 5 years, the BIG (the only other conference with agency) will either join the SEC in this new venture or start their own sports association in partnership with the PAC and backed by Fox, CBS, NBC, or possibly Amazon.

The PAC and ACC might look like they have agency, but not really. ESPN has hold of the ACC until the next decade. The PAC has agency but will just follow the lead of the BIG, like last year.

If BIG joins the SEC, the PAC will follow, and then the ACC will be dissolved with new E(SEC)PN association keeping at best 5 of the schools probably driven by geographic sports market / the schools individual marketability (BC, UNC, VT/UVA, Syracuse (if they have better marketability than Rutgers in the NY area), ND (they will have to give up that NBC money)). That league will effectively control the entire college sports market in the contiguous US with 50 or less schools.

Every other school gets left behind to become lower talent finder school.

If the BIG starts their own sports association, then prospects for the ACC, G5, and remaining BIG X II improve. ESPN will push the ACC into it's new league venture with SEC though it may still break apart with schools following their interests. PAC will follow the BIG. There is the possibility that limited numbers of G5 schools will be added by both leagues to reach into each other's markets. Both will be less than 50 teams each.

Big XII is finished.
ACC's days are numbered.
The G5 have spent a lot of money to get back to where they started.

What they should do for football only is just have 2 leagues like the NFL. 40 teams based on blue bloods, traditions and money revenue makers. That be 8 teams from each Power 5 conference.
