so who exactly do you think Auburn would play every year, from the West, if Auburn did move to the East?

I don't give a frick about Auburn or who you think you should schedule.

Perhaps at some point Auburn will move to its rightful place in the East and face Tennessee and Florida again on an annual basis

Support.

Mizzou to the West.
Auburn to the East.

Bama will never go for it.
So let's move Bama and Auburn to the East and send Mizzou and Vandy to the West. Vandy can play Tennessee for their cross division. Auburn can play Mizzou. Bama can play themselves as we all know they only beat themselves. I guess Arkansas and UGA finish it off. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone but I'm sure I don't care.

I hear Jimbo will be turning A&M into a juggernaut so we no longer need Bama to anchor the West. Texas is bigger than Alabama in all ways so they more than make up for Bama and Auburn.

Who gives a shite about UT?

The travesty in the scheduling is that by 2002 Auburn and Florida had played 80 times, but since the schedule change that year which put each conference team with only one permanent cross-division game, Auburn and Florida have only played 3 fricking times!!!

Cross-division ought to be

Vandy-UT
Missouri-Kentucky
LSU-Auburn
Ole Miss-Georgia
Texas A&M-UF
Arkansas-South Carolina
Alabama-MSU

Not bad.

All kidding aside though, it's not gonna happen.

The best anyone can hope for is adding a 9th game with 2 permanent crossovers.

If that happens, I could maybe see swapping Mizzou and Auburn but Bama will still be the likely hurdle.

Honestly, I think the powers that be at Auburn aren't anywhere near as concerned about it as this board would indicate. They just want to beat Bama and compete for championships.

This.

Move Auburn to the SEC East, and allow them to keep Georgia/Alabama.

I agree. The only thing the office cares about is pleasing Bama. Because of this, nothing will change.

They have leverage for sure.

But let's not act like this is the Big 12. The power is nowhere near as concentrated.

Nice deflection on telling us what you want to happen since AU is the only team in the SEC that can and does beat Bama and Bama is eventually going to run out of mulligans.

Auburn and Florida need to play each other at least once every 3 years

I miss the old SEC schedule. Growing up with LSU playing Florida and Kentucky from the east was great. At least the schedule had some continuity.

I would be all for Auburn moving to the East. Keep the Bama game some how and I could really care less about playing Georgia.

Alabama is the impediment for Auburn to the East, but in truth bama vs UTk and the Iron Bowl have a historical significance to the conference. As does Auburn vs uga. There isn't a great solution other than a 9 game schedule which solves one problem while creating more.

People tend to forget that in 1992 placing Florida, uga, UTk and Auburn in the same division would have created a crazy imbalance of power considering LSU's history. LSU and the Mississippi schools have benefitted the most from the rising tide theory. Pun intended.

I mean, for over half of that time UT refused to travel all the way to AU, pretending that the bus ride was too difficult.

But fortunately the trip from Auburn to East Tennessee was easy on Auburn players. (SARCASM).

ETA: The solution is eliminate divisions. Play 4 rotating games and 4 permanent. Ours would be Alabama, Georgia, Florida and UT.

Seriously, look at Auburn's schedule in 1983, people played great schedules back then, UT every year, Florida, Alabama and UGA every year. We basically dropped UT for LSU.

W12/3/1983 Alabama 2320 Birmingham, AL
W11/12/1983 Georgia 137 Athens, GA
W11/5/1983 Maryland 3523 Auburn, AL
W10/29/1983 Florida 2821 Auburn, AL
W10/22/1983 Mississippi St.2813 Auburn, AL
W10/15/1983 Georgia Tech 3113 Atlanta, GA
W10/8/1983 Kentucky 4921 Lexington, KY
W10/1/1983 Florida St.2724 Auburn, AL
W9/24/1983 Tennessee 3714 Knoxville, TN
L9/17/1983 Texas Auburn, AL
W9/10/1983 Southern Mississippi Auburn, AL
