Nothing on this site cracks me up more than when a poster gets that salty over a totally benign thread like considering other location for the SEC baseball tournament.

I still like the idea of the Travelers field in Little Rock.

Parking would be a major concern at Dickey-Stephens. But I wouldn’t hate it being there.
Wish we could just compromise and rotate the tournament between 4 locations.

Anybody who stays near the park wouldn’t need parking. There are a great many hotel rooms just a short walk or street car ride away.

You can have the big 12 champ wherever you want brother.

As I said, Aggies can frick off. That includes you.

Does that include Gene Stallings?

Riders Field in Frisco has the best game time amenities for those who don’t want to watch baseball.

I go to multiple Travs games a year. It would be an issue in the early rounds, trying to accommodate multiple fanbases. Especially on the North Little Rock side of the river. They have difficult enough times accommodating a weekend Travs game.

But it’s SO easy to get across the river. Just hop on the street car. Takes 5 minutes.

Why does this matter? Football Championship is never centrally located and the basketball one rarely is either.
To point out the obvious, baseball is not football. The fan support isn't nearly as significant and the football championship only involves two teams.
It's not so much about geographic centrality as it's a matter of how many teams are within a 4 hour drive and Birmingham is the optimal spot in that regard: Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss State, Georgia, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt are within that 4 hour span which is half of the current SEC. Columbia, SC and New Orleans are 5 hours (Baton Rouge, 6). You don't really have this kind of geographic set up in any other city.
I guess Huntsville or Chattanooga could work, but I see no reason to do that. Im all in favor of it moving to Regions but Birmingham does actually make sense

If the SEC had balls they would have it Rickwood Field.

I can’t wait to see how badly the MLB game goes at Rickwood this summer.

Just posting here to put a vote in for the Shrine on Airline in Metarie, LA.
Former home of the New Orleans Zephyrs. Seats 10,000. And looking at Google Maps, it appears to have plenty of parking.
