It'd be nice if they could tear down the Saban statue so that someone could make a better one.

I'm sure BLM will be along shortly to explain how hating everyone equally was worse for blacks.

You would think with this much experience you would be a little more subtle with your troll.

0/10...disappointing.

He actually helped several black players get football scholarships at other schools prior to integrating his team.

At first, he didn’t recruit black players, but he ended up having a huge part in breaking the color barrier in sports and had great influence in changing Alabama’s perspective of African Americans.

It's NOT a troll. It's a warning. The Leftist Mob is hangry, doesn't believe in debate or reason, and has a POV, some spray paint, and an appetite for destruction. It's cute that you think anybody is immune, let alone and old crusty dead white guy like The Bear:

quote:

In 1970, Alabama was one of the few football programs that had an all-white roster. Bryant argued with critics who said he was a racist by saying he didn't recruit African-American player because the social climate of the time didn't allow it. Behind the scenes, however, Bryant was often cited as using racial slurs. And, it made sense to the coach at that time. Bryant was born and raised in the depression-era south, where he was exposed to deep seeded racism.

BLM seems to be bating 1.000.
It would probably be best if they stay in democrat controlled territory.
The rednecks in and around Tuscaloosa are armed and dangerous. The only couple I talked to said they only need an excuse.

There really aren’t that many in Alabama all together. It’s a combination of people with common sense and police that don’t take any shite.

Nothing will ever happen to this statue. These are the four men who changed forever the face of SEC football.

I can't wait to read the signs on College Gameday... I wonder if the spelling will be anywhere near correct?

OP is clearly a tool, but you seem legit so I'll answer.

This 'Bear was racist' talking point, primarily spread by lazy Auburn fans, lacks a basis in reality. He took over a prominent (but sleeping) program that happened to be located in an ultra backwards state. He saw through integration in a state that was opposed to it, and Alabama under him was roughly in the middle of the SEC pack regarding timeline on when integration went down. Really, only Kentucky and sort of Tennessee have any room to cast stones in this debate. I've never seen a racist quote or story attributed to him. Now, some say, as powerful as he was, he could have done more to speed things along. That's probably true, but he was a product of the times and I don't think he ever saw himself as a politician and sadly politics played a huge role in all this. Many say he scheduled that 1970 game with fully-integrated USC to speed things along (Alabama had one black player on the team at the time). When more progress was made on this, there are countless stories from black players who said he was nothing but fair to his black players- really all he cared abut was winning. Check out Croom's comments on Bryant.
