Someone needs to tell this kid Alabama has no obligation to offer him a scholarship. He is a project and will need time to develop anyway. Some adult with some maturity should have talked to him before he took to twitter to start burning bridges.
Regardless whether or not he comes to Bama, he will regret pulling this crap.

So all that being said.
The kid is left to the elements for 6 months, hoping to be accepted at bama and mentored by Saban...
All with the possibility that he could be kicked to the curb anyway
So the kid has to pay $2,500 in tuition and fees at Jeff State for a semester, and on the back end Saban will pay $10,000 in tuition and fees for a year of graduate school, plus room and board, for his fifth year.
And you think this is a bad deal.
Wow...you really are this stupid. Hard to believe.

Why do they even bother ranking kids that low? Unless he happened to play on (or in the right game against) a team with a high D1 prospect, I guarantee nobody at the rankings services saw anything but some selectively assembled tape. If one of the people who ranked him walked outside tomorrow to find a guy ranked in the 900s having sex with a llama while shouting out his own name, that person would have no idea who he was unless he was lucky enough to get the attention of a perennial top 10 program.
Sucks to be told you're not good enough to come in immediately, and if he was being repeatedly told he had a spot until today, I'd be very sympathetic. But I seriously doubt that's how it went down. If his lead recruiter was telling him he was an essential part of this class, his 900th ranked alarm bells would have gone off like klaxons. It's just how things go. I got into a really good school (that wasn't Vandy) and they seemed quite happy to have me, but were clear that I wasn't getting a full ride or anything; in other words, they'd love it if I came but they'd be perfectly okay without me. That just made my decision to go to Vandy as a legacy much easier. Sometimes you have to understand what's best for yourself.

this is bad for the rest of the SEC. If players are getting processed when bama is only at 17 commits, they must have a lot of people committing this week

So much this. These kids have to be able to figure this out. It's no different than the myriad number of other decisions that kids have to make at that time in life; some are able to see the bigger picture better than others.

This kid should kiss Saban's hairy bean bag for that Grey shirt.

If the kid is so good, why did we not offer?
At the end of the day, it is all business. The kid is better off going to South or WF where he can play. I hope he becomes an All American and a future NFL HoF guy, but this stuff happens all the time.

That's exactly what he did. The kid de-committed because the Bama coaches were still saying "We're not sure" when he asked whether or not he'd be greyshirting.
Good for him for decommitting and going somewhere he will actually play. He could be a star at a place like Wake where they redshirt everyone and give you time to develop. Also good for him for not bashing Alabama in the media. If he knew that he was a potential greyshirt all along then he can't complain that they are unable to tell him for sure until signing day.

you act like no one has ever done this before. All schools including your favorite school does this. And because schools cant comment on recruits, who knows whether this kid was offered a contingency deal. All coaches offer this all the time. To act like NS is the only one to do this shows how stupid most of you are that is taking the time to degrade NS

Watch out unless you don't mind a permaban.
Agreed, very unclassy move, this close to signing day. This is an instate guy. Doubt his HS Coach was happy.

Gee. I wonder why the real world isn't operated by this same business model.
Oh wait. It is.

Kid could have switched his commitment to another school and no one would have said shite. Bitch at Saban all you want be he is paid to win football games and the feelings of a young man, to whom we have no legal responsibility, isn't anywhere on his list of priorities.

there is 0% chance that cole didnt know he might be asked to delay enrollment. there are a couple contingency guys like this every year. christian bell was one last year. guess what, he is now on campus, on scholarship, with 4 years of eligibilty
