Oh and you do? If it were that easy to take a B level program to the level of an Alabama, Notre Dame,Oklahoma, USC,or Ohio State then time would tell a different story. For a 100 years the same 5 programs have dominated the sport through multiple coaches. They're the best because the best coaches always end up there.

He just happened to grow up loving, playing for, graduating, and coached for Alabama. To say Alabama isn't his dream job is just plain stupid.

I agree that Dabo Swinney will never leave Clemson. He has built a family type atmosphere where there is stability in the coaching staff and you never hear of any players getting into trouble. I think the fact that he is a Christian man of faith is also a big reason for their success. I don’t know if he will ever be able to accomplish what Nick Saban has accomplished but as it stands today I think he is a better coach and has a better program at this time.

Yeah, and last year the two SEC teams that got in were the two that advanced.

Clemson deserves all they get this year, but using 1 year to claim the SEC is categorically overrated is silly.

Not taking anything away from Dabo, the main reason for his success right now compared to Saban is the continuity of his staff. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I heard during the game that Saban has had to replace 27 assistants over the last 10 years as opposed to Dabo replacing 3. Let teams start poaching some of Dabo's assistants at the rate they do Saban's and we'll all see just how good Dabo is.

SEC team has gotten into the playoffs with 2 losses.

Which team/year? I'll wait for you to Google and find out it's never happened.

No way in hell does he leave for Bama now.

Agreed. There is no way in hell Dabo would leave now. He is on top of the world. As long as he keeps delivering on the ever increasing expectations, he's not going anywhere.

If he stumbles though and the fans start loving him a little less, Alabama could start looking pretty good.

I figure the timelines for Saban retiring and for the Clemson "dynasty" to show some cracks could be in sync.

Or not. Just a thought.

I remember hearing Sabana talk a couple years back about how he was getting tired of fans lofty expectations and he relayed a story about how some old woman walked up to him during the off season and patted him on the shoulder saying something to the effect, "wish we coulda done better, but maybe next year."

The incident clearly pissed Sabana off and he probably told her to frick off or something, but the point is that if one of those games made the fans ungrateful, what's gonna happen now?

Alabama folks are royally pissed about that game and Coach Satan is probably about ready to tell the whole lot of them to go frick themselves.

Watch it happen.

So the last impression Saban will leave on college football is of him getting his arse kicked in the NC game? That's the way you predict he'll go out?

If Dabo has a lick of sense- and I think he does- he would never, ever, ever leave Clemson to replace the GOAT at Bama

Remember what the great Al McGuire said....
