For Alabama.

Dabo has now achieved living legend status at Clemson. The path to more championships is easier at Clemson.

No way in hell does he leave for Bama now. And it's double worse for Bama because Saban is a defeated man. I think he may retire.

it is easier at bama b/c you don't have to win your division and only a SEC team has gotten into the playoffs with 2 losses.

That's nonsense.

I'm happy y'all got the win and all because I don't like Alabama much, but in no universe is the SEC an easier path to the playoffs than the ACC.

But that isn't even the point of this thread. I'm thinking long term strategy for Alabama moving forward. You see, earlier in the year I was of the opinion that they should just go ahead and ask Saban to retire, because they'd still be able to lure Dabo back home.

Well, that was only feasible if Swinney didn't win another title. You can count that shite out at this point. And Saban is probably gonna quit now.

If Alabama football is a stock, I'm dumping all of it right now.

If Saban leaves, we will still be good, eventually at least.

You are Arkansas. You suck.

This is simply an untrue statement. There were no play-offs in the BCS era and UGA was excluded this season.

Uh, no 2 loss team has made the CFP.

That has never happened in the CFP. The one time it happened in the BCS, LSU beat Ohio State. So, if they beat the “best of the rest”, sounds like they should have been there.

Well he also sees how Bama fans have suddenly been acting about Saban after all the great they claim he has done. Bama fans claim Auburn is bad about running off coaches but they turned on a coach alot consider to be the GOAT, after only one game. Dabo knows if he didn't win a NC in year 2 or 3 he would be fired and tarnish his name.

Meh. Urban won two titles at Florida and later coached at OSU. Saban won a title and was worshipped at LSU then ended up at Bama. Spurrier was a legend at Florida then later coached at USC. Etc. Careers are long and a coach can go from loved to hated really quickly.

Dabo is a very religious man. If it’s in God’s plan for him to coach at Alabama, he’ll end up here one day.

None of those coaches were hated by their previous schools.

Urban made up heart problems for some weird reason, Spurrier went to the NFL, and Saban went to the NFL. The fans didn't force them out.

Unless Dabo goes to the NFL and comes back... I don't see him leaving Clemson.

I didn’t say anything about fans forcing them out. The opposite. They are examples of coaches with massive success and fan love who still ended up elsewhere.

let's face it, a SEC team will make it with 2 losses...that's why you guys are always hyping up the conference.

the top two SEC teams this year got beat handily and the conference went 6-6 in bowl games to include a 28-0 UVA win over SC.

probably should at least wait a week or two to do the SEC marketing stuff.

I’ll take the opposite angle from OP, havng watched Saban since he was at LSU.

He’ll figure out what happened, and what allowed it to happen, and do everything he can to make sure he’s never beaten that way again.

I am wondering how did Chad get hired and coached the team this past year badly?

Tillman was wrong about the 2 losses, and it is certainly true that it is way more difficult to go undefeated in the SEC than the ACC, but he does have a point that only Alabama has a guaranteed mulligan every year. I believe they can lose any one game (including the SECCG or a game that costs them the division) and still get in. And if they ever managed to win the SEC with two losses, they would most certainly get in.

That loss was the worst thing that could happen to the rest of the college football world in 2019. Bama about to go scorched earth.

There's no way he can maintain his current success at a school like Clemson. If Dabo truly wants to GOAT he's going to eventually have to take his crew to a true blue blood program where the ceiling is much much higher.

If this wasnt true there would be more than 5 blue blood programs. He will leave at some point and with him being an Alabama alum the writing is definitely on the wall.
