From the Tech board: We had the best roster we’re likely to EVER see in our lifetimes. A generationally #1 team, so much better than anyone else it’s comical to even discuss it. We got boat raced by a sec damn near bottom feeder

I've never seen a fanbase so freaking in love with itself to not have accomplished a darn thing. Tech and Pitt are the only ACC programs to not have gotten past the regionals in the last twenty years.

Failing to get out of a regional 14 straight times has to be some amazing statistical anomaly. How many times have they hosted?

They were all still on the field in their uniforms 90 minutes after the game ended pouting and soul searching.

Like Football, you may not have the best team at the start of the season but going thru the SEC crucible generally makes you far better at the end....

Problem is, this recent generations weren't the ones who built the SEC culture, they have been entitled by it and don't take opponents seriously... That and baseball can have an equalizer with a lessor team having 1 strong ace and a couple guys who play out of their heads behind them....

Final stats:

Have not been a regional champ since 2006

19 seasons since covid doesn't count against them

14 total regionals

5 of those as regional host

3 of those as national seed (2nd, 3rd, & 8th)

At least they're consistent.

Well, you have to perform on the field not on paper.

Playing each series in SEC is like playing 10 regionals each season. You learn a lot by doing that.

And this:

The Omaha Archive
@TheOmahaArchive

It just dawned on me…

Georgia Tech’s best team in school history was the star studded 1994 team that lost the national title to Oklahoma.

The 2026 Tech club mirrored that ‘94 team in so many great ways, and was also eliminated by Oklahoma.

7ech is the worst. Never tire of watching them fail, and fail miserably.

The Georgia- Georgia Tech dynamic is one of the weirdest ones in sports.

Georgia is the flag AND the ag school...

And Tech is the nerd school...

Georgia is in the smaller town and Tech is the big city school...

Totally different than any other place... Not the normal set up for intrastate hate.

But in spite of that.... you all have still managed to hate each other with the best of them.

Hate Tech early, Hate Tech often.... Arrogant nerds that haven't done anything since before Al Gore invented the Interwebs or Climate Change.

I do think Tech has the right coach to actually get over the hump. Ramsey is still very young but he will recruit extremely well and they’ll bust arse for him. I’d expect them to break through sooner than later but this was definitely the best year to capitalize with their upperclassmen and lack of truly elite teams to compete with.

Larry Cochell was a great coach RIP! That GT team OU beat for the Natty was loaded with MLB talent.

I definitely remember Nomah & Veritek but was it "loaded" outside of obviously those are two great players for the Yellow Jackets?

Tennessee? If you’re looking at UT vs. Vandy. Obviously reaching, Vandy is private and you were thinking about land grant institutions

The 1994 team had the following players drafted in the MLB Draft:

Round
1 Nomar Garciaparra
1 Jason Varitek
1 Jay Payton
2 Brad Rigby
13 Al Gogolin
38 Buck Hall

Not a bad haul. 3 first rounders. Rigby, Gogolin and Hall were all pitchers.
Obviously not all made it to the majors.

This was not to prove you wrong. Your question just made me wonder, so I looked it up.

I mean....I don't understand this at all. UF vs GT, yes. Maybe UTK or AU vs. Tech.

But OU? why?

He is part Oklahoma Aggie... That is why. So he hates GT and OU because they are both the in state rivals of his teams...

Makes perfect sense... Although I don't know which team is Iran and which team is North Korea in his designation.
