Yea, they don't look at the private schools when they do these studies.. Very few white people and no rich black people send there kids to public schools in B.R. and N.O.

Ditto what the other guy said about NO and BR.

Same can be said for Jackson Public Schools who probably dominate these statistics. One of the worst school systems in the nation. Shouldn't this shite be on the political board?

Perhaps, but with most of the bottom being the SEC, figured this was more appropriate, plus MS gets to have something to crow about too.

Where is it everywhere else. I think in Vicksburg, they're thinking about moving it to 60 which is sad for high school.

If we went by private and parochial schools, Louisiana would rank in the top 5% of the nation.

Also, if you took away many of the Orleans Parish public schools, Louisiana would be much higher in this thread's poll. The rest of the state gets a bad rap for one parish.

I seriously wonder what the effect on the graduation rates would be if you removed the major urban areas and recomputed.

I feel pretty safe in saying that Georgia and Louisiana would go up if you took out Atlanta, Macon, Baton Rouge and NO.

I'm not really sure if that would have as big of an impact on Alabama's rate though. From my experience there seems to be a pretty high drop out rate in some of the more rural areas of Alabama.

Maybe so, but if you go to the actual study you'll see that Tennessee came in at #37 (between Michigan & California) while Arkansas ranked #9...
