Everybody but the uga fans will be gone in the 4th qtr.

This game will not be close. Texas will be up 3 touchdowns starting the 4th quarter and 99 percent of the Georgia fans will be gone.
Georgia can't tackle for shite and can't cover receivers either. Mark this down Texas will beat Georgia and it won't be close.

DKR has historically never been known as a particularly intimidating atmosphere.
Growing up, I have always had it explained to me the reason for that was the stadium was a poor design with a running track and open horseshoe. Combined with the fact that the west side was filled with people there not so much for the game, but to make connections with others. Politically and Socially.
The 1990 Houston game was different, our hair was on fire for that game and the atmosphere was incredible.
But that was a rare event.
Through the hard work of our current AD, Chris Del Conte, Saturday night should mark a turning point in the perception of our stadium and atmosphere. It’s incredible how much has changed.
But just as much as the team, the Texas fan base must prove it.

DKR is impressive to most people, empty, or full.
Sark first impression, "This place is massive!"
The DKR westside stands include 17 floors of admin & recreational space, and stands over 200 ft above the ground.
The Stadium is 100 years old this year; it has been added to over the years, but the original structure is still intact. As an engineer, I can assure you the design was not poor, it was functional and esthetically pleasing (form and function) and has stood the test of time.
Most people go there for the games, DA. They may have other reasons, but there are better places to go schmooze.
When it's full, it can be a very intimidating atmosphere. It has provided a home field advantage for generations and any number of teams over the years have wilted and got blown out. Whether that is because of the team talent or atmosphere is arguable, but they tend to go hand in hand.
Saturday night a turning point? (see pic above).
Fan base must prove it? Perhaps we can start with the guy in your mirror?

Let me guess, you are under 30.
DKR was all the things I stated. I grew up in that place. My first memories of football was sitting up at the top of the west side fighting crickets under the lights in the mid ‘70s.
There is a perception by others, not unfounded, that our stadium was not a particularly difficult environment in which to compete.
And that is no longer true. But we must prove it.

Before Mack Brown we were awful. Fans barely even wore Longhorn gear to games. It was pathetic. Crowd noise? Maybe the noise of crunching nachos. The blue hair side was dead silent. We were so bad back then we earned this reputation of DKR being easy.
"Come Early, Be Loud, Wear Orange, Stay Late" Wasn't that Mack Brown's thing? I give him credit for helping us turn the corner on this.
It will take some time to change past convictions, especially because Aggie will uphold anything negative about Texas for time immemorial, but we are definitely way different from those days.

The real question is, will y’all have a guy flying a Jetpack around the stadium? That’s when we know it’s on…

This is absolutely not the case, and I’ve been to DKR more times than I can count.
The only great environment was the year Ricky Williams broke the record vs the Ags. And that was mainly because of the pageantry surrounding that milestone, and was a one-off for that game only.

DKR has always had a more corporate, metropolitan atmosphere than your typical large college football venue. The games I’ve been to there felt more like an NFL atmosphere than college. And in many ways that makes sense as it’s essentially the professional team for the largest city in America without one. C suite executives and affluent Austinites with no official affiliation with the university are a sizeable contingent of the fanbase and donors/ticket holders.

Back in the '80's and '90's when we went to games at DKR, it was not impressive at all. It was just another football stadium. It wasn't a dump but not what you would consider nice either. At most games, there seemed to be just as many A&M fans as UTrans fans.
Austin back in the day was a fun place to go to a game. The city of Austin is slowly turning into a dump. The suburbs around Austin are still pretty nice but Austin itself is not. The famed "Sixth Street" has really gone to hell.

So you went to a bunch late 80's, early 90's games. Just so you could see A&M win.
Yes, it sucked then at DKR.

Just an observation - why can't you frickin Aggies bow out of a discussion about DKR? Why do you have to inject dubious self-created Aggie legend?
Because this kind of shite is all you have, you know.. "appearances".. how things "seem"... and you rush in to defend your BS now that Texas is passing you up in the peripherals as well.
Go back and stare at the pics of an empty Kyle - I know you've seen them.

That’s a weird way to phrase it. I went to games in the 90s because I was a student and closely followed my football team and road-tripped with friends?
You really don’t need to get defensive. I didn’t say anything untrue or inflammatory.

Yes and I was a student then too. Y'all kicked our arse every year. And yes, DKR spirit was abysmal.
But continuing to pull from that to speak about DKR is over 3 decades irrelevant now.

When you keep throwing nuggets like this out, It makes it pretty easy.
UTrans is the only school in the history of the world to hold a dildo parade. Y'all were so proud of yourselves that you mmortalized it by putting a dildo on display in their Student Activity Center in order to immortalize the event.
You even gave the dildo a nickname "Big Boy". You just can't make this up! No one would believe you!

Here is a newspaper article from the campus newspaper about Big Boy.
