I hope Saban stays in Alabama. I feel he will. Alabama football and Saban go hand-n-hand. Frick Texas Longhorns. Go find another coach. Stay out of the SEC.

Saban is friends with a big UT boosters that has wanted to get him at UT for a few years. Deloss is not going to sign off on that deal but the reported money offer, that was made last year, was nearly 10 mil per year and several mil more for assistants.

I'll believe that when I see it.

If Saban left, it would be the great jimmy rustling of our time

Saban's name gets eyeballs in these sorts of reports, but what we don't know is how many people these regents approached prior to talking to Mack.

(Or, rather, how many peoples' agents. I doubt Saban wouldn't have talked to them himself if he was seriously interested.)

Because most of the time it is. The elite SEC defenses are not only physical but also possess the speed to stop the spread. Its a proven formula.

If he leaves, Bama will probably go back to what it was(shite). Saban at Texas kinda scares me. They have a lot of money and recruiting talent. And by recruiting talent I mean Austin is fricking awesome and full of beautiful women, compared to the mobile home eutopia that is Tuscaloosa. Why wouldn't anyone want to go to Texas or Miami or USC. I'm kind of grateful that those teams have been off lately because if they get really good coaches it could seriously never stop if a coach decided to stay. sigh I rant!

Read the article and tell me how much is legit and how much is jag-off with more time and money than power and influence who is actually soliciting a hire for the University.

Also, how any people a year do you think Sexton talks to regarding his clients?

This story has legs today not because Saban is going to Texas, but because of the push to get rid of Mack Brown.

Does anyone believe this would have been released, had Saban agreed to anything?

And UT has the pockets that are deep enough to win any bidding war with Alabama

I don't think he would leave but the rustled jimmie meltdown would be epic! I would probably hate my own fanbase on the rant because you know there would be a gazillion "told you so" threads a day.

It was released for one of a few reasons.

1. Some UT boosters want Saban out as a candidate and releasing his name early forces the hand of the AD to comment publicly about not hiring him.
2. This was meant to gauge interest and public response to him being hired by UT, meaning how the fans would respond to it.
3. Bama released this information to force UT's hand at responding and removing him as a candidate.

I'd say it is far more likely that he stays but when you are dealing with UT type money there is no telling, money talks BS can run a marathon.

UT type money

Don't think UT would be more willing to pay what Bama would be willing to. Just because they have it, doesn't mean they'd outbid and outspend. There's a limit to what a value someone is to everyone.

The elite SEC defenses can stop anyone, regardless of system. That's why they are elite. Arkansas is really the only school that has gone from spread type offense to smash mouth recently.
A&M, OM, State, Auburn in the west all run the spread now and 3 of those run the HUNH I believe.

And back to the point of the Big 12, most of those coaches are spread HUNH innovators and disciples. You think Kingsbury, Holgorsen, Briles and Gundy will start lining up in the I and running it 55 times a game because Saban is there?

No, but their replacements might be hired in part based on their willingness to go that route. That, in fact, was almost certainly one of the factors involved in hiring Bielema.

Texas regent, former regent talked to Saban's agent about replacing Mack
Why would the regent approach Mack about retiring if that meeting with Saban didn't go over well?

He gone.

Perhaps because Tejas has been shitting the bed the past couple seasons. They want him gone whether Saban is coming or not
