It really is amazing. All of those SEC wins and not a single win was against a team that was ranked at the end of the year.

First of many, overall program is well ahead of everyone else at this point. Having your own network and being the big fish in a pond of minnows before joining the SEC helped them to be ready. Congrats!

Oh brother… talk about a selective memory!

Texas beat both Arizona State, which finished as AP number 7, and Clemson, which finished as AP number 14, in the NCAA football playoffs this last year…

We were told many times before we joined the SEC that each game against every SEC football opponent would add up to such a grind that there was no way “soft” and “entitled” Texas was going to make it in the SEC…

Not our fault that a number of our SEC football opponents did not match up well against others at the end of the season. Our football wins against each SEC opponent except for Georgia last season (such as our win vs. aggy) definitely helped to lower our opponents’ rankings at the end of the season…

1BIGTigerFan-

I personally think it's great that schools like Texas and Florida value all sports.
I agree.

I realize that the majority of posters here have no idea what Title IX means. Texas fought that battle 50 years ago. 50 damn years ago! When the NCAA settlement happens, your schools are going to spend $20 million on all sports, not just football.

Most of you would be happy that your teenage daughter got knocked up and she gets to spend her life making babies and raising kids.

If you are going to sponsor sports, the intent should be to support them in a manner that matters, to support the kids that represent your school, and to provide them an opportunity to be successful, both in sports and in life.

Texas has 21 sports, 9 of which have been ranked #1 in the nation this year, including Football & Baseball.

Things are heading in the right direction. We know it, and you know it.

TEXAS, IN THEIR FIRST YEAR OF SEC COMPETITION, IS COMPETING AT A LEVEL IN ALL SPORTS, INCLUDING FOOTBALL AND BASEBALL, THAT NOT A SINGLE ONE OF EXPECTED THAT TO HAPPEN.

Yes, I am shouting at you.

But make no mistake it’s a football first conference

Ummm, I am fine with Georgia talking some shite, but Texas came in second to Georgia in men’s SEC football last year, and played in the NCAA Football National Championship football semi-finals last year…

And we put 12 players into the NFL this spring, plus secured the number 1 high school football recruiting class last year… It’s not like we’re just ignoring football…

Yes, it would be great to now win an SEC football championship and another National Championship… but by most objective measures we’ve had a pretty good first SEC year…

Congrats but gotta ask....would most Texas fans swap the SEC all sports trophy for a SEC football title? Everyone in the conference would, possibly Oklahoma or Texas is different but the rest of the conference would swap any title, other than a national title in football, possibly a natty in basketball and baseball, for a SEC Football title....

No reason not to win both, and UT was pretty damn close to doing so...

Except, my daughter is a Doctor.

Really glad your school is doing so well, but you can take your condescending crap and shove it.

LSU has won 3 since the year 2000. How many has Texas won? And no I didn’t mean just football. Has Texas won a championship in Football,Basketball (Men or women) Softball, or Gymnastics since joining the SEC?

I didn't know the award even existed and it's obviously stupid considering Texas hasn't actually won anything of note since joining the SEC.

Here is something for you geniuses who scoff at “small” or women’s sports:

Both Arch’s dad and his mom were excellent college athletes. Why is Arch athletically gifted and motivated? Because of the positive genetics and love of sports which flowed through both his mother and father, to Arch.

Even though this did not happen in Arch’s specific case, successful male and female college athletes frequently maintain a love of their school where they once played college sports, which they then pass on to their male and female athletic kids, who just may grow up to be talented football, basketball, baseball (or other sport) athletes one day… and who may then be super motivated to attend and play for either mom’s or dad’s alma mater…

Thus over time, broadly funding and supporting all types of men’s and women’s sports at your university will later produce genetically athletically gifted children super motivated to play sports one day at either dad’s or mom’s school.

Support for both men’s and women’s sports at your university can produce long term athletic success which is self-sustaining. Plenty of great Texas athletes have had moms, dads, or both who also attended Texas.
