As I said in the other thread...

The 16 team super conference is a scheduling nightmare, but the 20 team super conference with 4 divisions is very workable. In a sense it brings back the old 10 team SEC inside it.

West Division: LSU, Bama, Aub, MSU, and OM
East Division: UF, UGA, Tenn, UK, and Vandy
SW Division: Arky, A&M, Oklahoma, OSU, Mizzou
Atlantic Div: USCe, FSU, VT, Clemson, Maryland (or virgina, GT, UNC and NC State, etc.)

Each team will then play 8 conference games (4 division games, 3 rotate through the other divisions, and 1 preferred rival). Then run a 4 team playoff rather than a championship game.

The SEC will own college football!

pretty sure a conference already tried the 20 team thing and it didn't work so well... Which is why the accepted golden number seems to be 16.

It's hard to remember who with all the conference stuff going on.

If Mizzou comes, I'm in for a confused existence. If GT comes, I'm in for a very confused existence.

If Mizzou and GT both come, I might have to go into an asylum.

Dear lord this is wishful thinking.

I'm wondering where the "possible 8" story went, yahoo's been silent and that was supposed to come out first. Yahoo is all bluster at this point.

You want teams with TV market that also fit the SEC-like fanbase and history. What schools near these cities work?

Here are a few bigger tv makets that come to mind.

16 Miami-Ft.Lauderdale
21 St. Louis
24 Charlotte, NC
27 Raleigh-Durham
31 Kansas City

don't tell us what we want, you're not even in yet

That's basically the Southern Conference that folded in 1932.

Certainly want A&M in. I think Mizzou is a good pick up too. They are a good academic school, up and coming football program, and would lift basketball.

FSU and VT would be the two from the East I would like to go after.

Bobby Dodd insisted there was no other reason he left the SEC, other than the 140 Rule. The 140 Rule stated a college program could only have 140 football and basketball players on scholarship at any one time. The teams were allowed to sign up to 45 players a year, but could not exceed the 140 Rule. Dodd would not allow any of the football players choosing Tech to be dismissed from Tech, because they were not good players. Dodd said, “it is not the recruits fault for not making the squad, it was the coaches fault for misjudging their talents”.

quote:

When the meeting was held, Bryant did not show up and the Alabama president voted against Dodd’s position and the 140 Rule was upheld. Tech’s president immediately walked to the podium and announced Tech was withdrawing from the SEC. Bryant never told Dodd why he reneged on his promise.

I'd love to see Oklahoma, GA Tech, and FSU. I don't really want Clemson.

Along with that..
If the SEC becomes a 16 member conference while all the other conferences are only 12 and less. Could there be a solely SEC BCS NC?
