That’s rich coming from an Alabama fan. They can’t handle the more level playing field
Half the posters are saying Bama is poor, but the other half is saying we were just better at paying before under the table. So now that things are above board, the playing field is level because some teams have more money? Is that your argument?

Alabama the pinnacle of corrupt financial wizards and money laundering. Clearly the good old boy network of Dallas and the mafia of Chicago just couldn’t compete with the methods of this nonunion agricultural state. You’d sooner take this position than admit Saban is a great coach and Alabama an attractive program. Because you are silly.

Teams being good because their teams can afford to spend huge excesses is definitely not why 99% of college football fans like the past time.

Lol. We all saw Saban coach without an overwhelming talent advantage when he was coaching the Dolphins. The results were.....less than impressive.

the Dolphins' facilities must have been really bad

He improved their record from 4-12 to 9-7 in Year One and they were super pissed when he left.
What we have actually seen is myriad of teams in places like Texas, Florida and California with huge talent advantages suck eggs year after year and Indiana without it be the #1 team.

Oh im sure the amazing Jimbo Fischer just happened to be that good that one time to pull off a miracle haul, that no other A&M coach has been close to duplicating.
Only A&M fans would be dumb enough to believe this.
Makes as much sense as the Bama fans who think Saban wasn't paying people.

Lol, wtf do you think Saban was doing for all those years in Tuscaloosa? Bringing in the best HS football players in the country by showing them the campus library?
I know that this fantasy about Alabama breaking the rules while every other school in CFB were paragons of virtue is the plush teddy bear that soothed your inferiority complex for the past couple of decades, but there was a time in the mid-2010s when an entire wall of the football complex had the jerseys of first round NFL draft picks who had played for Saban at Alabama. That did more for recruiting than $100 handshakes or even Dodge Charger leases ever could.
The recruiting pitch was simple: you come here and put in the effort, you have a better shot at making millions in the NFL than if you went anywhere else. And isn't that kind of what college is supposed to be about in the first place? Preparing young adults for a career so that they can live better lives? Now we're seeing players hop from school to school based on what they can receive right now, and it is in a death spiral.

Kalen's budget appears to be shrinking after that 38-3 arse raping he took.

My position is that Alabama under Nick Saban had the best system in place to facilitate under the table payments to players without attracting the scrutiny of the NCAA.
Then you are stupid and don't understand the difference between money and value.
Alabama spent tons of money on their facilities, staff and the selling point was getting paid in the NFL after. Alabama/Saban put players into the NFL at a rate that was double that of the next highest coach(Urban) and like 4 times higher than the average.
And it wasn't a matter of having more 5 stars, it was comparing equal recruiting ranks.
That's what Alabama was about, creating value for the players.
What players cared about before NIL was development so they could get to the next level and get paid. What players care about after NIL is getting paid now.
What do these other schools have to offer that was better than what Alabama had? Pretty much playing time. Some bigger schools had good facilities that were as good as Alabama's and so forth, but when it came to coaching it wasn't really the case. Kirby did a good job of copying that to Georgia is as close as it got.
Other schools however did not have that value to offer and they were the ones that paid under the table to steal recruits. Personally I always considered them to be a filter in itself because they took away undesirable recruits who only wanted to get money and didn't make great decisions.
But if you'd like to tell me why you think A&M or any other school had more to offer a recruit than Alabama, I'd love to hear it. Is it your creepy gay culture?

The argument is Alabama has paid players under the table and given inducements for years. Now that everybody can do it, their advantage is gone.

6-7 WRs? I guess the 2 extra are your answer at QB and LT?

Wrong again. Nobody but fools and the absolute most hopelessly naive homers thinks any P4 team that has been trying at all to be competitive over the last 40 years wasn't paying players in some way shape or form.
The only ones in this thread who seem to think their team was the squeaky clean exception seem to be Bama fans.

Ok, despite the fact that Fisher always had top 5 classes and had just had a 1 loss season and a NY6 win
But you believe a lie told by longhorn superfan “sliced bread”
