I don’t think you would want him to wait until transfer portal ends. If the head coach leaves, the portal reopens but only for kids to leave your team…In other words, you could get really screwed over.
That’s why the portal needed to be in late spring. Just do away with spring practice and allow more coach contact and practices in the summer. Solves a lot of the timing issues.
