We're on a quest to win a national championship and being here in the SEC while denying y'all any tool for comparison by not playing is the best way to do that.
What will happen first? Aggies win a natty or Aggies celebrate the 100th anniversary of their 1939 natty? 2039 is 26 years away. 1939 was a banner year - Hitler invades Poland and A&M wins natty.

I'm sure Texas wants to talk about it because their recruiting is pretty bad right now and they want to find a way to go back to being the top University in the state.
that's part of it but I think it's a passive-aggressive tactic to get people talk about it and pressure A&M to playing them. They've got a "good cop, bad cop" thing going on with Strong and Patterson.
It's weird though because they've actually flipped as before they both held the opposite position. That just makes it look incredibly planned because I think they made the decision of who can better carry the good/bad cop roles.
Either way, at this point it's clear they are either obsessive about A&M, and since they are both new that would be weird, or this is a concerted effort on their part with an unknown endgame.

Do you not have a Big 12 board to go to? Oh, wait a minute...no one gives a flying flip enough about the Big 12 to create a fan site for it.

Nope, they had one once.
But then it split and left for the PAC/Big 10/SEC

I can see compelling reasons for A&M not to want to play Texas and for Texas not to play A&M. Eventually, they will play in a bowl or in a playoff game with a lot on the line, and it will be awesome. We'll all be watching.
It is kind of sad that discussions like this erode into a pissing contest. The Aggies have a looooooooooooooooooong way to go to being on even level with Texas when it comes to overall importance to college football.

They aren't scared of the SEC, they just think we're all dumbfrick rednecks and they're better than us because there is live music in Austin or something.

This shouldn't be a surprise after what happened with the rivalry between Mizzou and Kansas.
The Big 12 is in collusion to punish it's former conference mates by shunning them.
But TAMU and Mizzou are having the last laugh. Both are doing very well in their new conference. Much better than their old rivals are doing in the Bevo12. Texas football is bad, and Kansas football is terribad.
Living well is the best revenge.

I think there is a little bit of an obsessive mentality from both sides tbh. But they are both completely understandable to me. Even though A&M fans and the program is clearly focused on the SEC, there has to be part of y'all that wants to stick it to Texas by winning an SEC or National Championship. And even though Texas/Patterson says there is no benefit to playing A&M, I guarantee you that they want to come back to national relevance and make the playoff before A&M to try and say that they don't need the SEC or A&M.

I mean yea it would be a perk but that's so far down the list. I agree with tmc, this really seems like a concerted effort on their part
