Texas being Texas and not releasing Ron Holland

Texas plays by its own set of rules. This should give pause to everyone else in the SEC.
They won’t release a kid who has asked to go and even though he doesn’t need a good reason, he actually has one ….. his coach was fired.
How’s that gonna play the next time Texas tries to recruit a high profile player? If I were coaching another school, I’d be all over that on the recruiting trail. “At UT you can check out anytime you want but you can never leave ….”

Good. Lots of agent shenanigans involved here with his family shopping him around.
He endorsed RT multiple times for coach after Beard was fired and no one forced him to sign (which he did after Beard was fired)
If he’s not released, which he shouldn’t be, he can still go G League

It isn’t just NIL.
Your other 5 star he was close to withdrew and another player left. Texas is borderline top 25 next year.

This is where the NIL gets sticky. Tampering likely happened (similar with USC going after Bradshaw at Kentucky because Bronny James signed and is with Klutch) but who wants to force a kid to stay with a school if he doesn’t want to be there?
