"The visions of grandeur never cease in Aggieville. Coach Kevin Sumlin was fired with $10 million still owned, in order to bring in Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher with a 10-year, $75 million contract.

It’s Sherrill all over again, at 40 times the price and with a larger ego."

"Another surprise for a first-time visitor to Kyle Stadium was the Aggies’ obsession with Texas, which combined humor and paranoia. One attempt to needle the University of Texas (UT) were visible references to TU."

Haw-Haw Aggies.

I hope it’s like Jackie again. That hire greatly improved our program in the 80’s, and set us up for the 1990s which were our most successful era in modern history.

I also have to say that Aggie alumni are some of the weirdest people I know. Strange combination of militaristic skin-head and wussy nerd.

He wasn't coming for anything less and he would've stayed if Florida State matched.

Wow, it sounds like all of those Aggies you know are like cartoon caricatures of what someone who doesn’t know any Aggies would say....

Texas doesn’t have the influence with the NCAA that y’all had in the 1980s, so bring it on I say.

A writer from the MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE. I give a frick why?

ETA:
quote:

"Another surprise for a first-time visitor to Kyle Stadium was the Aggies’ obsession with Texas, which combined humor and paranoia. One attempt to needle the University of Texas (UT) were visible references to TU

- was the takeaway from a trip in 1982!

Surely you could source a recent article hating on a&m not based in fricking Minnesota.

Also, I’ve never heard of Kyle Stadium. Sounds awesome, where is it?

If they win, then you have to hand it to them for doing what was needed. If they lose, then we can all laugh at them. But right now, I think everyone agrees that it's awesome they are going for it...

he's telling the truth. This is how the whole country sees A&M foolishly throwing money just to become relevant. which is no guarantee.

It’s only foolish if it doesn’t work, and no one knows yet if it will.

I don’t see the whole country obsessed or worried about it. Just one group of fans.

Sad. 7SU fans are either obsessed with the team whose coach left them is at or the team who hired the coach 7SU couldn’t.

If history is an indicator the last time we hired away a top head coach with big bucks it worked out for us wonderfully.
