Seriously though, anyone is lying if that number is over 35%

May well be under that, but I'd assume the bigger boosters are older.

This would be it.

Excepting the Iron Bowl, Auburn has much longer standing rivalries etc. with the Eastern Division teams than with the western division teams and would actually be a better "traditional" fit. We always used to play UGA, Tenn and UF, much more so than we played the Miss. schools or LSU

i'd gladly drop auburn if it was the only way to save the bama/ut game.

I would be the same way if the UGa game was on the line. Or LSU.

I enjoy the iron bowl, but the hatred from both sides distracts from the fun of a rivalry environment.

why would the sec want to change?

#1 conference expansion is happening with or without the SEC, so we might as well get the pick of the litter from the get-go and expand where we want to expand (pick logical fits geographically and athletically while also increasing revenue by venturing into new markets)

#2 the Pac12 new TV deal basically antiquated the SEC's new TV deal. Those teams are getting $20 mil per team (escalating) whil the SEC is getting around $18 mil per team (fixed). Expansion allows for the renegotiation of SEC tv contracts, especially if adding a new market(s). There is no reason that SEC teams shouldn't be getting equal or more dollars than Pac12 or Big10 teams get from TV revenue.

those are the reasons for the SEC to expand

no, because the third saturday in october is a bigger game and better rivalry to me

and due to my friends and situation the UGA game is a bigger game for me...But i'm also not so naive as to insist that to the fanbase it's bigger. And at some point you guys are going to have to go back to playing them on the 3rd saturday in october.

i'm kind of selfish. if i was in charge, i'd do whatever i had to do to keep the TSIO.

Hopefully your athletic director and boosters feel that way.

I really doubt there will ever be any consideration of adding FSU, or likely Georgia Tech or Clemson. Adding them doesn't make any sense for trying to get a bigger TV deal.

FL is too populated a state for FSU, to be included in that list. FSU is also the only non-SEC BCS school in the middle of the conference. It would be good for a number of reasons. Most of the reasons you would probably list for excluding them are purely selfish. FSU would be a positive addition to the conference. Suck it up. This said, I don't think they would jump ship.

I agree, SEC has always been proactive so no need to sit back now.
I like adding aTm to the west and Va.Tech, Clemson, and FSU to the East. Then move Auburn to the East and Vandy and UT to the West.

According to aggie, the SEC has practically been begging for them to join for 2 years.

It's true. That way we'd have a team for homecoming those years when we don't play Vanderbilt.

Mizz, FSU, VT, and Texas AM will bring in bigger TV markets than Clemson. Mizz brings in KC and St. Louis. VT brings the state of Virginia and DC. Texas AM brings in the largest populated state other than CA. FSU is in the most populated state in South BY FAR. FL is bigger than LA, MS, AL, and SC combined.

Mizzou would add to the footprint of the conference and Missouri has a few big media markets that'd be good for the SEC. Their football program has had some great years too. The SEC could definitely do worse.

You can count me as a pro-SEC-move Ag.
Adding Mizzou along with A&M to the SEC W would only turn it into the SWC Part II. Im all for adding A&M but hell no to Mizzou, I'd hate to see the SEC watered down.
