I don't think there's any question about that, at least not among us oldsters. LSU definitely screwed up a dream season. Congrats.

I'm pulling for the Aggies all the way. However, you guys know better than anyone how meaningless an outstanding regular season record is. I mean, A&M could be hosting an NCAA regional with a 58-5 record, and I would have a hard time betting on the Aggies to reach the CWS.

NICE!!!!

That's some mean (and appropriate) shite, right there. Well done.

The Aggies started that season 26-0, 8 more games than the current streak. Which just goes to show ya... frick LSU.

No doubt about it, the 1989 team goes down in Aggie lore as the fan favorite.
Nine players were drafted from that team.
John Byington's two walk-off homeruns (doubleheader) vs the horns still go down as one of the greatest moment(s) in Aggie sports history. link

The LSU loss shattered the community.

The 1999 team was close, in terms of talent; but at the risk of sounding cheesy, they didn't have the hearts of Aggieland like the '89 team did.

They were great.

Not long after-- like '92-ish or so-- they went to the CWS and got beat out by Long Beach State. Anyone remember that Long Beach State team? They had a pitcher they called "The Blade". He had a fastball and three different changeups. I followed him in the minors for a minute but lost track. I really thought he might make it.

That 89 team was incredible. Lost to fricking Ben McDonald twice. Finished #2 in the polls despite not making it to the CWS.

I still can't believe we lost twice to LSU in that regional.

You gonna lose 3 out of 3 this year so not much will have changed since 1989
