I already mentioned the way he exited could have been handled better but let’s not act like exits define who a coach is.

The way your head FB coach handled his exit is very similar to Schloss except Schloss’s was magnified right after a championship loss.

Both coaches affirmed their commitment to their schools before stabbing them both in the back and not even talking to the players before leaving.

I’m sure once Schloss left, even if he wanted to talk to the players, it sounded like they wouldn’t have heard or even given him to time to talk to them which I don’t blame them at all as I’d probably feel the same in that position but let’s not act like a “talk with the team” would have made the situation any better than what it was which was messy.

Perhaps they are trolling over there tho..

I don’t think any of it is manufactured. The guy is loathed.

It’s actually probably worse than what you’re even reading.

Appreciate the tone of your responses, but we’re obviously coming from different places and have different opinions on the subject.

The original post asked for thoughts on the situation, and I gave mine. I don’t expect Texas fans to be sympathetic.

No doubt! Like I mentioned whatever the outcome, the way you guys are playing it doesn’t look to be the last time we will see each other. Just hoping for some good competitive ball and that both teams come out injury free.

Did Beard have issues before coming to Texas?

I was responding to a TAMU poster saying that tu puts championships (or the possibility of winning one) above morality and character. My post was actually a defense of tu in that they fired Beard--a guy that could've brought Texas a championship.

I will admit that CDC was the pivot point for all this - nothing to do with Texas or A&M.

If CDC was A&M's AD, Schloss would have left Texas to go there.

The Aggies I know cannot seem to ditch the emotion and just logically process what happened. The whole thing has an "appearance" that they can't get past.

But Aggie's character assassination response to this doesn't hurt Schloss. It just further propagates the already existing 2nd-class Aggie complex.

So have at it.

he clearly wasn’t a good fit for A&M.

A&M is *part* of the reason that Texas no longer enforces grooming standards as part of Longhorn baseball. We held out decades longer than most, including A&M.

Go away with that "fit for A&M" garbage.

Schloss was out the door the day we hired him. Anyone who had done appropriate due diligence on the subject would have known that his BFF was down the road, and they were both mutually waiting and plotting for what ultimately transpired.

Shame on A&M for not having the foresight to see the situation for what it was — I guarantee they won’t make the same mistake again.

None of that changes what I posted about my opinion of Jim Schlossnagle as a human. The guy is a slime ball. But again, I’m not looking for sympathy from the Horm fans, nor do I expect it.

It is what it is. If the tables were turned we'd be just as angry and ags would be rubbing it in. We're rivals for a reason.

Are you pissed because he left or are you pissed because of the way he left right after the CWS?

It's the way he left. Actively recruiting players from A&M while he was still on our payroll. It's one of the reasons A&M told him to pound sand when he had the gall to ask for his World Series bonus after he had left - he was in breach of contract.

He's a great coach. All evidence points that he not a great person.

No one is blaming Schloss for following his friend DelCunty to Texas.

They were together at TCU.

The rub is with:
-The timing and how it was communicated
- How the players were shut out when they heard rumors
- How Schloss treated people on the way out
- How Schloss tried to take all personnel overnight

At the point that this went down, every other school had been in off season for weeks. This set us way behind.

So no hard feelings with leaving, (our AD) had something to do with that.

More about leaving in middle of night and how he treated the players and the media.

Thats just normal for A&M, you kept an Interim CFB coach who was actively recruiting to Syracuse for WEEKS

The problem is institutional

I've heard the same about him for years, back even before A&M hired him. As I told some A&M fans "Sleep with the snake, don't be upset when he bares his fangs"
Just a terrible human being. I hope A&M run rules all three games this weekend, and I hate all the teams from Northern Mexico.

Yeah that’s what I figured but I didn’t follow off field issues with other coaches before they got to Texas unless it was national news.

I didn’t know if there were rumors if Beard was a women beater on his way out the door from Tech fans as I can’t imagine they had nice things to say on his way out as he was headed to Texas

This is true. TCU was actually glad to be rid of him.
But like our brothers to the west, we too suffer the character flaws of putting championships above all else.
We can't fault the horns for doing what we did. We knew of these "character issues"....both at the AD level and the big donors level...and we did it anyway.

Schloss talking about relationships with former A&M players

These situations are often way overblown

I think most people at A&M and if you ask anybody from TCU agree that him winding up at the Longhorns is a better fit for his character

His tenure may end in scandal, or it may not, you guys have been good at covering up Things probably better at it than anyone in the country, Apple White sleeping with a student and getting her pregnant while he was married, Augie being drunk and abusive during baseball games, Mac Brown and the national championship team that had more drug arrest than any other college football team had ever had.

I get it, win at all costs, Then deny, cover up or act like it doesn’t matter like when Tom Herman was caught cheating on his wife or when Charlie Strong was caught cheating on his wife while being coaches in Austin.

You’ll just keep printing baby poop orange shirts that say “OK, whatever”

You guys aren’t evil for wanting to win and you’re not unique for overlooking bad things your coaches and players do, Everyone does it, everyone wants to believe in some form of fashion that they don’t do it, but we all know that’s not being honest with our ourselves or each each other

Either Team could sweep this weekend or either Team could take two out of three

It’s gonna be fun to watch
