They also refined the recruiting process and experience for players to a science and have unlimited budget for it.

Can you expand on this?

I think is just that fans from other schools are starting to feel a little uneasy, as we always knew the "sleeping giant" potential of A&M, and now it appears we are witnessing the manifestation of those fears.

The future of the SEC could be solely dependent on how the renewed A&M/UT rivalry plays out in the next decade, because there is absolutely no other school in the conference that will match those dollars.

I for one was happy as hell when A&M joined the conference, as their eccentric traditions and facilities are some of the best country, but now certain realities are here to deal with for other schools.

Might be for now but they’ll have to adjust and regulate NIL. No way it can stay as it is right now! NIL was a handlers best dream!

NIL has proven that this was never about players being exploited. It is a way to further exploit the players by their various handlers, hangers-on, and of course big business who will profit off their likeness.

If we were actually concerned with unpaid work, a salary would be set which is equal for each player and paid by the conference.

The best thing you can do to understand what's going on in College Station is stop believing what you read on this site about A&M.

A&M gets shitposted by angry LSU fans all day every day on here. Very little of what they say has much of any truth to it, nor does it impact the real world outside the shite-talking message board circuit. It's just message board fodder. And that's fine because this is a message board.

But the reality out in the real world is A&M is a great school, with a great fanbase, and a historically good, but not great, program. One that never got the commitment from the school and boosters to be truly elite until the SEC move. Now we're all in on being elite, and committing the resources to make it happen. If you think A&M is the same old underfunded A&M program it used to be, you're fooling yourself. And the results are starting to show.

Honest question...what does A&M have to offer? Is it just the money? I'm curious how Jimbo, a historic average coach coming off a mediocre season, is pulling this off? Thanks for the insight!

This recruiting cycle is based off of last years success and beating Bama. Enjoy your day.

Are you trying to argue facilities don't matter in recruiting?

That’s precisely what half these people are arguing. In the minds of 99% of non-A&M fans, the only things that matter in recruiting seems to be the quality of the city night-life. I guess we all can’t compete with the booming metropolis of Norman. I heard that is where the next Hangover will be filmed. Supposed to make Bangkok look like Schitt’s Creek

There will be a lot of Calzada type transfers when some of these players realize how much College Station sucks to live in and how angry Aggies are compared to anywhere else in America. Aggies are very nice to away fans, but they can be terrible to each other. They’re overcompensating.

Hate to break it to you, but if A&M can buy a number one class, every SEC school can if chose to do so.

We have more money than you. Sorry.

Like I said, it's all about the money...And you know what? that's fine!...It's a new day in college athletics...We don't have to love it, but NIL is here, and if you want to be, or continue to be, relevant in this sport, you DAMN WELL better embrace it wholeheartedly...Not sure if this post is thinly veiled jealousy, don't really care because I have no dog in this fight, but the point is valid about the money...Elite players from all around aren't committing to A&M because it is a good school or because Aggieland is "magical" (because...no.) or because they "see the potential" or because some recruit sold them on it or because some "Aggie network" will give them a cushy job in Houston if they don't make the NFL...They are committing because of NIL...Big, big, BIG dollars, and it's okay to say that...If I was an A&M fan, I wouldn't care how they got there, I'd just be glad that they got there...But don't try bull-shitting people into believing it's something it's not.

If the town mattered half as much as LSU fans on this board make it out to matter, Tuscaloosa Alabama would be the most advanced city on the planet.

Austin is great, I imagine Athens being cool (mostly because I love live music and especially the Black Crowes) but LSU fans cannot call anyplace a shithole. BR can certainly be fun but NYC or Vegas it is not.

You're welcome to believe what you like.

Great school, great alumni base, in the middle of 4 of the fastest growing metros in the country, with elite facilities, a fantastic coaching staff with a proven track record of getting players drafted, one of the biggest stadiums in the country, an excellent football gameday atmosphere, and the financial backing to keep it all at the top of the pack for the forseeable future.

Money is a big part of it, but not everything. A&M may not be your cup of tea, and that's ok, but from a player's perspective, what's not to love about what A&M has to offer right now?

Athens is cool. Nice town, and a lot of fun, but it didn't live up to the hype for me when I went. Still just a college town, even if it is one of the better ones I've ever been to.

Honestly mpst SEC towns suck.

Baton Rouge? Tuscaloosa? Auburn? Oxford? Gainesville? Knoxville? Starkville? Columbia? College Station? Fayetteville?

Nobody goes to any of those towns to vacation. They go for the schools and for the schools' sports teams. That's it. College Station is no worse off than any of the others.

Calzada was never going to play another down at A&M and he knew it. He was never supposed to play to begin with ...
