I'm not sure that we can know if that's true. The fact that the gate opening caused him to fall backward rather than being able to use the wall to aid his jump might have caused him to miss it.

Still, the correct call was made.

I watched the video. I watched the slo-mo video. He never had it and the gate didn’t cause it. If anything the gate opening up helped him gain more room on the ball
