There aren't many people who could explain this away even if was the plan the whole time. Lying about a dead girlfriend...good luck selling that.

Oh I agree. But I'm always surprised at the people who believe stuff they shouldn't. Like the people who believed Lance Armstrong until this week, or the people who think Joe Pa didn't know people could have gay sex.

The right answer.

As a Catholic, I'm trying to find the silver lining here.

I guess the good news is that Mante Te'o wasn't found in bed with a live boy. Like Edwin Edwards, he knew it was better to be caught in bed with a dead woman. Okay, a dead woman who never really existed in the first place. But, still better than getting caught in bed with a live boy.

Regardless of how this turns out... ND made their bed tonight when they pushed the "Manti was tricked" line. They've had an investigation, the results of which they won't publish. If it turns out he was in on it...

So here is a question: If someone offered you $6 million to admit to the hoax, knowing that you couldn't go to jail, would you do it?

Well...I remember thinking there is no way a booster would ever pay $150,000 to come play football at Bama and I remeber telling family no way we get in trouble for this...

So maybe me being able to POSSIBLY believe he was duped is more evidence to the contrary.

$6 million to admit to the hoax?

Sure.

If I seriously believed anyone would really pay $6 million.

Sounds like a hoax to me.

Oh I just made that up. I don't know how much Manti Te'o's role as a victim is worth in American dollars.

hell yeah i would if i couldnt get jail time or criminal charges. Im just gonna throw this out as my prediction. I think teo and his boyfriend were gettin it on. Knowing that the church wouldnt allow it they created the girl as a cover. When the family wanted to meet the girl they killed her off. Only problem was the family blabbed to the media and he had no choice but to go with it.

Te'o's Girlfriend's Death a Hoax according to Deadspin
quote:
October 12, 2012|By ERIC HANSEN - Follow me @hansenNDInsider | South Bend Tribune Share on emailShare on printShare on redditMore Sharing Services SOUTH BEND -- It never felt like a chance meeting, although it probably appeared that way from the outside looking in. Their stares got pleasantly tangled, then Manti Te'o extended his hand to the stranger with a warm smile and soulful eyes. They could have just as easily brushed past each other and into separate sunsets. Te'o had plenty to preoccupy himself that November weekend in Palo Alto, Calif., back in 2009. His Notre Dame football team hadn't won since Halloween, and a three-game losing streak, that included seismic home setbacks to Navy and Connecticut, was pushing Irish head coach Charlie Weis out the door after five seasons, albeit with a seven-figure financial settlement set to kick in.

quote:
And Manti Te'o is convinced the beautiful stranger will be watching too Saturday, somehow. Lennay Kekua was a Stanford student and Cardinal football fan when the two exchanged glances, handshakes and phone numbers that fateful weekend three seasons ago. She was gifted in music, multi-lingual, had dreams grounded in reality and the talent to catch up to them. The plan was for Kekua to spend extensive time with the whole Te'o family when upwards of 40 of them came to South Bend in mid-November for ND's Senior Day date with Wake Forest. "They started out as just friends," Brian Te'o said. "Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there. But within the last year, they became a couple.

quote:
"And we came to the realization that she could be our daughter-in-law. Sadly, it won't happen now."

Here is the original sweet story...

They've deleted the story. COVER UP; COVER UP; COVER UP; COVER UP; COVER UP
