He didn't have Tebow at Bowling Green or Utah. He had Leak here to start with. When Tebow leaves the offense will change to match the personnel.

Hey look, even the best coaches can't do well with some teams. Look at Spurrier in South Carolina.

The reality is that the game has changed, and that you can't expect to be a top 10 power every year. Kids can get on national TV with literally any program, and the SEC has all the great coaches. frick, Fulmer took you to the SEC CG and almost beat us two seasons ago.

Y'all first made it impossible to recruit and coach with a negative fan base, and then chased a fantastic coach off and for what? A good recruiting year? How great is your recruiting going to be if you keep missing bowl games!?

The Tennessee fan base is a bunch of ungrateful pricks. Yeah, Monte Kiffin is a great NFL coordinator, but college offenses are night and day different from NFL offenses. What if UCLA torches you in the second game, and then you face Florida and get killed? How's that going to look for recruiting? There is a good chance that "the vaunted Tampa 2 defense" could give up more than a 100 in those two games combined.

How are recruits going to feel then?

I say 3-4 years. And that's ONLY if UT finds a QB!

Apples to oranges. You are comparing a team with tradition and resources(UT) to one of the historically worst programs in the SEC.

The "fantastic" coach (who didn't know how to keep his players out of jail) missed out on bowl games 2 out of the last 4 years. Pair that with 2 very sub par recruiting classes in that time frame and you get why a change was made. How do you win the SEC east, and then have the 38th ranked recruiting class that year?

This coming from an LSU fan?

When LSU lost to Arkansas two years ago, the LSU faithful already had a ticket for Les Miles booked to Michigan. Epic fail with that comment, sir.

That's what I'm saying - you can kiss your tradition goodbye in the new era of college football. You may have resources, but you are going to have to build it up over time. To a 17 year old with talent, university of Tennessee is no different than any other BCS program outside of the big east.

Yeah we'll find out how good Kiffin is at recruiting model citizens.

Actually, the LSU faithful held a parade for Les Miles that year. Epic fail by you.

We'll see how it all turns out. I notice you didn't dispute the vols giving up 100 combined points against Florida and UCLA

Janzen Jackson felt the same way, I suppose?

Plungers aside, there have been no reports of arrests or any suspensions yet. That is a first and it hasn't been that way in years

That was AFTER he won the title. They were running him off after he lost to Arkansas. Fair weathered fans at it's finest and hypocritical for calling a Tennessee fan an ungreatful prick. The guy (Miles) won 11 games in two years and they weren't satified...

It's not going to happen. You obviously don't know much if you think UCLA has a juggernaut of an offense. That will be a low scoring game. UF is a different story and will score 40+ on several teams.

Most likely this.

7. Never again

maybe this.
Not alot of instate talent in Tennessee.
And the shine that the program had in the 90's looks really dull now. Welcome to the Nebraska-Miami club.

1. This year-0%
2. One year-0%
3. Two years-33%
4. Three years-33%
5. Five years-33%
6. When lane kiffin is no longer the coach-possible, but not likely, IMO
7. Never again-

if UT can get a 5 star QB recruit, which they will sooner than later, they will compete.

You guys are kidding yourselves thinking Florida is going down any time soon. They have MAJOR talent, even at the back up QB spot. Tenn will never be up to this level as long as CUM stays at Florida.

I don't think these are an option just because Kiffin needs time to lessen the talent gap.

quote:

3. Two years

I don't think this will happen either as Florida, Alabama, and LSU should still have a talent advantage based on the recruiting in the last few years. If their staff does well the gap could be closing by then. I don't see him outdoing Florida in the regular season and beating the west champ by this point. It will be even harder if Petrino and Chizik are performing well.

quote:

4. Three years

Kiffin will have 4 classes under his belt at this point. If their record has been improving, then he'll have the talent coming in and they should compete for the SEC. If their record has been mediocre, then they'll change coaches and will have another rebuilding period in the following year.

Therefore I'm betting on this one:

First of all, I wouldn't blame phil for the first bowl game miss, i would blame all those injuries.Every single time we have a down year we always come back to our former glory the next year. I'm not saying we'll beat florida or win the SEC, I'm just saying a down year doesnt mean we suck at life and will never be the same. As for the question, i really cant tell you. no one, no matter how they praise or flame, knows how his career is gonna turn out.

I never said I wanted Miles to leave, I have always liked him. Please do not group every LSU fan into the spoiled Rantard group.
