Reached for comment on Wednesday afternoon, Tennessee athletic director Mike Hamilton said, "We told [USC] we could play 'em in a few years but we can't make it work with our schedule next year."

Hamilton said he was initially approached about the potential match-up a few months ago by Gary Stokan, the Chick-fil-A Bowl president and CEO. Hamilton also said Kiffin had recently sent him some text messages about the proposal.

The Vols' tentative 2011 schedule as of now includes home games against Cincinnati, Georgia and LSU and road games at Florida, North Carolina, Alabama and Arkansas.

Pisses me off. Though we would likely get destroyed.

No one would want to see a game between two teams on probation anyway.

Don't worry we'll play them when they're down to 50 schollies.

basically we wont play USC when we'd get our asses kicked, only when they have 45 players

Yeah, it would be a great idea to go USC, Cincy, @ UF, @ UNC, LSU, UGA, @ BAMA, @ARKY to start the season.

That played a role but also UT would play a very tough game now that Carrol doesn't have a 2 million dollar NFl consultant budget each year planning his major OOC games for him.

Damn, come on Hamilton and schedule them. Everyone in the SEC would love to see Kiffin get the beat down.

Damn that would be sick. The roof would literally be shaking in the Dome. I'm getting fired up just thinking about it.

Don't get worked up. Your AD won't let it happen.

I wouldnt do it if I was the Tennessee AD, either. Maybe USC should try to play one of the big boys instead of picking on UT in a rebuilding year

We actually have an agreement with them ten years down the road. Our AD would let it happen, just not in 2011 due to our previous OOC commitments.

Tennessee is not afraid to schedule anyone. We schedule the hardest OOC schedule year in and year out then anyone in the nation.
