I don't think it matters one way or the other. But UCLA would not be willing to go all in Knoxville unless they thought the QB position was still a major liability.

his run in Corvallis was incredible given the resources and situation.

Corvallis is home to Oregon State.

Doesn't sound like UCLA was all that impressed with the App State kid.

Impressed even to bring him in as the presumptive starter until Nico’s camp overestimated his value to UT. When Nico found his scholarship pulled, and zero interest that he thought he could generate he landed at UCLA. Nico is a bigger name and would put more butts in seats so Joey A left. Not that difficult.

Cool. Tenn hasn’t been relevant since 1998

This is a stretch. So UCLA said "this guy's worse but maybe we'll sell an extra 100 tickets for the first few games!"

Doesn't pass the sniff test.

Brooks, the UGA tape breakdown guy just did a breakdown on some film on Joey Football:

JA the Gunslinger breakdown

Apparently he is very impressed.

Nico doesn't have "it." He just doesn't. Zero intangibles. JA is the leading returning QB career production wise in all of college football though. My money is on him posting better stats in Heupel's offense every day all day.

Our passing game was anemic with Nico. Only two games in the SEC did he throw for over 200 yards with Vandy being one of them.

Very possible

Now compare a similar situation at OU.

Going from Jackson Arnold (worse than Nico last year) to John Mateer (the top portal QB who was at a P4 school).

Based on that comparison OU has a bigger upside. Throw in injured WR/OL/RB rooms in comparison that Nico had a better compliment of players. At OU not only do we get a top QB but the weapons he has are massively improved.

Our road game at Tenn will be fun.

Too bad for you guys that you don't get us in Oklahoma again.

Neyland is a heck a place to play in against Heupel.

Only Kirby Smart and UGA have won consistently against us there since Heupel arrived.

The Nico/Arnold QB battle last year in Norman was the damndest QB play I’ve seen from two “5 Star” QBs.

They had less than 5*’s between them.

That's because so many defenses were playing that shitty offense with a light box, and the Briles offense demands you run the ball when there's a light box.

If a team can stop the run with 5 players in the box, you won't be able to throw into coverage either and that offense is dead. Ohio State shut that offense down with their front 4 and you couldn't throw the ball against them either. Eventually, you Vols will take the time to actually understand the offense you're running and what it does.
