We dont need to discuss QB and Wrs since we already know you are strong there. But for us who missed the game tell us about...
OLine & RB :
D-Line and LBs against run and pass:
Defensive Backs:

Still need to see a lot in terms of running back play. A lot.
Defensively, we didn't look bad up the middle, but I'm pretty concerned about our speed at linebacker, especially with the switch to the 3-4. That's based more on what I know about the roster than the game itself.

OLine & RB :
O-Line dominated in pass blocking.
190 rushing yards. Guards looked very good, tackles struggled a bit.
Rajion Neal, the starter, bounced everything to the outside and was replaced by Marlin Lane periodically who ran much better and more physically.

D-Line and LBs against run and pass:
Very good against the run. Got out of their lanes too much against the pass, did have 16 knockdowns of Glennon.

Defensive Backs:
Got lost a lot early, but tightened up after the 1st Qtr. Had 4 picks and tackled pretty well.
I think depth at safety could be a big problem.

Other analysis is acurate.
OL - has never been questioned on pass blocking. Did well enough to have a solid run game, but Rajion kept trying to take a lot of inside runs to the outside. It is the first time he's played RB in 2 years, played WR for us in that time frame.
RB - I was impressed with Young and Lane. Nothing jaw dropping but much better than last year. I believe Neal will improve a lot this week. We rushed for 191 compared to averaging only 90 a game last year. Obviously thats an improvement.
DL - Did very well in my opinion. Only saw one missed tackle, Mo Couch, which was cleaned up by an LB a yard later. The LBs took some time to settle in on pass coverage, they weren't lining up in the first half fast enough.
DBs - 4 picks... Eric Gordon's was beautiful. Byron Moore's was nice and was set up for a great return, but was grabbed by the TE. Wagner had a pick 6 but tripped. Didn't really matter though, because we had a holding penalty during the return so it would've come back anyways.
Over all - Thought it was good, not great. We have a ton of work to do. It is really annoying to see big heads on ESPN talk about how great we did, when we did do well, but we should have done much much better.
We will see how much we improve during week 2.

What about mccullers?
Did his job. Took on double teams to free up other rushers. Had a batted ball as well. In Dooley's post practice press conference today he said they played him more snaps than expected. Praised him for his conditioning.

McCullers did really well, at one point he was fighting 3 O-linemen and they could not move him.

Im so jelly, sounds like a good one. We will need one like him next year.

I am sure Saban will get whoever he wants.

The great news about our secondary was they struggled in the first half, but held Glennon under 100 yards passing in the second half, thats counting the garbage drive at the end of the game too.
NC State has a very good quarterback, but mediocre receivers so we will see how they do against someone like UGA or Mizzou. It was still a lot more promising than last years dbs.

I think Sal Sunseri is the real deal. his D adjusted very well after a couple of bad series in the first. ended up with 4 INT

goal line stand were disappointing though. we let them walk into the endzone

Defense attacked like crazy. Most blitzes I've seen since Chavis was loafing around the sideline. DL is really big and surprisingly athletic.
McCullers, Sentimore, and Couch are three legitimate SEC Calibre defensive lineman. Something we haven't had in 4 or 5 years.
LB corp is young overall, and it shows. They're also fantastic athletes. Barring injury, AJ Johnson and Curt Maggitt will play in the NFL one day. Herman Lathers and Jacquez Smith, while slightly less talented, bring a little more experience to the position.
I know it was NC State, but I was really impressed with our transition to the 3-4 and Sunseri's play calling.

I'm not too worried about that. We didn't convert all 3 short yardage situations.
Here's why...
Remember last year during the Cincinnatti game we converted every 4th down we attempted and stopped Cincy on both of their short yardage situations.
The rest of the year didn't turn out well... We'll see if they improve this week.

Oline- still has a lot of work to do to get the run game going like we want. We got collapsed on a 4th and 1, when we used to line up and bulldoze the people in front of us. Pass blocking is solid.
RB- sucks. Neal thinks he's trying out for dancing with the stars the way he tiptoes around and then runs for the sidelines. This worked against a mediocre team like NC St, but the speed of the DL of a UF, SC, Bama, etc...will = a loss of 5+ yards regularly. Marlin Lane ran hard and straight ahead, but he's far from elite talent. Devrin Young is the scat back type runner, but he's never shown much as a RB. He has had better success lining up at WR and running a reverse.
D-Line played pretty well, and we have SEC caliber players now instead of walk-ons from McCallie. We have a couple of LB's that are special in AJ Johnson and Curt Maggitt. Maggitt was a monster against NC State, but again, they were a mediocre ACC team. It remains to be seen what they can or can't do against the NFL line of Bama. Jacques Smith is lost, not quite a D-Lineman nor a LB. Lathers is the heart and soul of our D this year, coming back from cancer and tons of injuries, and I'll be damned if he didn't sprain his shoulder against NC State.
DB's-scary. They were lost a lot Friday night with a lot of blown coverages and wide arse open receivers for Glennon, but the constant pressure we were getting helped a ton, and we got 4 picks. I can't remember the last time we had 4 picks in a game. Again, when we face Bama's O-Line, and cannot get pressure, they are screwed.
One more category I will add is coaching, specifically the DC. I was pissed when Justin Wilcox left for Washington. However, after watching the way Sal called the game and attacked every play, I'm glad Wilcox left. He was more of a read and react type DC. Sal is more of an up your arse I'm coming to get you type DC. Yes, we are going to give up some big plays, but we will make some, too.

Alot has already been said
Run game was lacking, most was gotten on the big cp reverse. Neal ran side to side too much, lane looked better running between tackles. I really like devrin young to swap it up, he is a sparkplug on special teams also.
Defense was "better". They played really aggresive which inloved. The first half we were giving up big passes and had gaps in the secondary. We got pressure on their qb, out d line is just okay, i really like our linebackers. They are athletic, and our secondary is sketchy, we will know more in a couple weeks.

I won't repeat what everybody else has said because it's all solid analysis. I'll just add that I was impressed with the pressure we got on the QB. This speaks to both the D-line and the LBs. In the first quarter Glennon had plenty of time to throw and appeared able to pick us apart.
But then once we started to dial up the pressure on him, he got noticeably rattled and, honestly, looked a bit frightened in the heat of action. Then he started throwing us the ball. No coincidence, methinks.

I read a stat last night that said we hit Glennon 16 times. That's an absurd amount of pressure on the QB.
Our DL and LB deserve just as much, if not more, credit for the Glennon Ints.

Really? I wasn't. I don't think the kid can go b/t the tackles at all. He's a bubble screen, end-around type player on offense, but that's about it, IMO.
I'm a little nervous about our run defense. NC St's 2 leading rushers still averaged almost 5 yards a carry with about 10 carries each. I do like how we figured out how to defend a screen pass. DBs catching the ball had been problematic in the past, so it was good to see them snag 4.
Still way too early...

He's not good enough to create for himself right now, but if the coaching staff puts him in good positions he's fast and shifty enough to be an explosive player for us.
