Thank God the SEC continues to force inequitable conference schedules for the sole purpose of preserving this matchup of the ages.
Please tell us Ed Orgeron is just as disgruntled about it as the LSU fans and He's wearing out Woodward and King Alexander, pushing them to take a stand and go to the SEC an force a change.

Let's not act like you are matched up with a perennial Top 10 team across the way.
- 4 of the last 9 years Florida has won 7 or less games.
- Florida hasn't finished ranked in the Top 5 since 2009
- Florida has finished ranked in the Top 10 2 times since 2010.
Florida has been better than Tennessee, but they've been "good" at best, average most of the time and awful at worst.
Hell, since 2013
Florida : 50-32 (average 8-5)
Tennessee : 41-40 (average 6-6)
So, yea, Florida has averaged to be basically a fringe Top 25 team and Tennessee has averaged to be a fringe bowl team.

I'd say LSU, GA, Auburn, and Tennessee are all about on par. I could craft a decent argument that any one of them is #2 "historically speaking."

They're bankrupt, Tennessee can't afford a good coach even with SEC a.k.a Alabama money.

Looks like we literally ruin their season after beating them

LSU has surpassed Tennessee and Georgia to take 2nd place all time now. Deal with it

Conference Titles:
Tenn: 16
LSU: 15
Ga: 15
Auburn:12 (Yeah, I'd probably leave them out)

2011 : 4-1; (wins) FAU, UAB, Tennessee, Kentucky/ (loss) Alabama by 28
2013 : 4-1; (wins) Toledo, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas/ (loss) Miami
2014 : 3-1; (wins) Idaho, Eastern Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee/ (loss) Alabama by 21
2017 : 3-1; (wins) Tennesese, Kentucky, Vanderbilt/ (loss) Michigan
Yea, I think it has more to do with not playing Idaho, FAU, UAB or Western Michigan anymore.

All of those UF vs LSU matchups at the time of the game had more hype and closer lines that Alabama vs Tennessee games.
Thats all im saying. Every year when LSU plays Florida, both schools have the chance to win. Tennessee hasn't had a chance to win since the Mount Cody blocked field goal game.
ETA: I didnt even look at the score histories before posting so
October 24, 2015 #8 Alabama 19 Tennessee 14
has been the most recent close game

You realize a lot of that has to do with the fact that LSU wasn't as good as Alabama, right?
As noted above - we played Florida in 2 of those years and blew their doors off both times. We won the game in 2014 by 3 TDs even though we had like 6 turnovers.

Again, that's fine, but Tennessee would have a chance to win if we weren't what we are. So the argument turns into "The Tennessee game doesn't matter because Alabama is a fvckin machine". I mean.......guilty as charged I guess?
We would have been 10+ point favorites every single year since Urban left against Florida - home or away.
We've played them 7 times in the last 12 years. We are 6-1 and the average score is 35-16.

Outside of Fulmer's mid to late 90s run, Tennessee has been a whole lot of meh for a lot of the modern era of college football.
LSU and Georgia, and even Auburn to some extent, (while all have had spells of down years here and there) have put out otherwise consistently ranked teams since the 70s.
You can only hang your hat on General Neyland for so long.

And all im saying is that i enjoy having games where we arent sure who will win. Makes for a fun day and fun gameday experience.
But i am NOT about to say that i dont wish we werent the machine that bama was
As a bama fan, do you not miss the times when you had 3-4-5 games a season where it was hyped and talked about and the other team had a realistic chance to win?

Well I think we have that this year - and yea I'm happy about it. LSU, Auburn and if we are lucky enough to get there Georgia/Florida will all be fun matchups.
However, we've just had less of those in the regular season and more of them in the postseason the last 5-6 years. When you have to beat two Top 4 teams in a 8 day period to win a national title you get plenty of realistic losses each year

LSU fans are giving Florida way too much credit. Over the last decade, Alabama has done the following against the Gators:
2009: W 32-13
2010: W 31-6
2011: W 38-10
2014: W 42-21
2015: W 29-15
2016: W 54-16
If we played them every year, the scores would be similar every damn time. Alabama has just been better than LSU and doesn't struggle with Florida as much as the Tigers do.
